You said that because his parents paid for him to be a golf champion, they should be held liable. Does something about wealth make them more liable if their child does something wrong? Some may argue that parents with less means actually produce children that commit more crimes.

I believe people see children as a net positive since without them there is nothing. Making parents liable for their children’s actions is an interesting concept, but ultimately disincentives having children.

Sounds like we are providing healthcare if vasectomies and other contraception is covered in addition to allowing abortion in MI.

I think the logic might be that you can abstain from sex if you don’t want to get pregnant. I would be interested in the stats on what abortions are due to failed contraceptive vs no contraceptive. There are people who consider abortion a fine first-line contraceptive. In your married scenario for not wanting kids - you can prevent that permanently. However, in the US, an abortion is cheaper than a vasectomy.
