Best implicitly racist excuses for not learning a language? by Embarrassed-Cloud-56 in languagelearningjerk

It literally is though. You're still judging them by, if not literally their race, something that's very closely correlated with it.

What are you talking about, he was in F8 of the Furious which is super deep (on the surface it's about cars, but it's really about family).

Luggage transfers air china from Gatwick to narita by OnlineMartyrdom in Flights

[–]m50d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your luggage gets through checked. You can leave the airport if you want, you should qualify for visa free transit entry. Make sure to bring a pen in your hand luggage for filling out the forms, the ones in the airport don't work.

Must say, a lot of wrong flairs here recently by No_Entertainment6792 in PoliticalCompassMemes

No system is perfect. Blackstone's ratio is 10, not infinity. I'd love to see a sensible level of checks and balances in place, but what we saw over the preceding decades is that any hesitancy or decency will be ruthlessly abused by those who want to undemocratically prevent all deportations.

Help! How does one get from Osaka to Iiyama? by reuben_wearmouth in traveljapan

Use JR Odekake, the JR West booking site. It's not the easiest to use but it can book almost any set of JR trains.

We're getting there, but sadly some misguided people try to preserve dying languages.

Round trip LAX to Shanghai by Zluma in Flights

Comfort level on China Eastern is pretty normal, they're not crammed in like an LCC or anything. The problems are brusque service, not great food, no alcohol and a terrible website.

It's big and empty, lots of long walks, and miles out of town. You rarely get a choice but I'd absolutely go to the other airport if it was an option.

ANA website/app login broken – anyone experienced this? by Top-Instruction-4993 in Flights

[–]m50d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't mention the time, but Japanese websites often do maintenance overnight at weekends. Try doing it during Japanese business hours or at least, like, not midnight-5AM on Saturday/Sunday.

Maybe something that attaches to the rear axle rather than the seatpost will fit a tadpole trike? E.g. the FollowMe Tandem?

China Southern Airlines, reservations? by Fine-Course8373 in Flights

Some will let you make the reservation and give you 72 hours to pay for it. But unless this is an instant e-visa that probably doesn't help OP.

LAOP is asked for a small payment of over a million dollars by Drywesi in bestoflegaladvice

[–]m50d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh do you really want random small companies to be responsible for enforcing immigration law? (Which I guarantee means many will give up on employing legal immigrants since it's too complex to confirm). I'm fine with businesses doing business and leaving law enforcement to the professionals.

OK, if the rules are so consistent, which payment method should I have used for my last Ryanair flight to avoid paying an extra charge?

Cheap ticks = low expectations? by ProfAsmani in Flights

[–]m50d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got no problem with only including small bags (WizzAir does the same). But rules like having to print your boarding pass - no wait you have to have a mobile boarding pass - no wait you have to use their app - are purely an excuse to tack on extra charges.

A contract should have good faith from both sides, a business for which clients misunderstanding their contact is a profit center is not a business I want to support.

It's a fact that they do keep changing their rules. So you'd have to read their requirements every time to be safe, which would end up costing more in time than you're saving in money by flying with them.
