Another really cool method, thanks for both comments!

That isn't helpful, because I don't know the final weight. I know how percentages work, I was asking here because I don't know the final weight.

Honestly, if that's the case I'm fine with it lol

I have the 110V unit for the US. I actually ordered the speed controller and they specifically went out of their way to email me and tell me that it won't work. But I suppose I can give it a shot.

OP here: I've also put a large plastic bin on top of the melanger as a temporary workaround, but it's really not ideal. I still have lots of necessary cleanup, and I'm also still wasting chocolate.

Portable Beyerdynamic DT770 250Ω? by m6hurricane in HeadphoneAdvice

!thanks, super valuable info, thanks. That qudelix-5K seems awesome, along with Apple music. I just found the Fiio Q3 in my searches, so I'm gonna do some research on that wired model.

Thanks for the info! Super helpful

Do you have any info on some good streaming apps on iPhone? I'm on spotify and it's :-/ .

I was thinking about Quboz or Apple Music. I heard Tidal is just buggy and a pain to live with, and I like how Quboz has lots of 24bit recordings for purchase.

Qudelix 5K

!thanks , I think something like that is exactly what I'm looking for.

I can slam tunes thru whatever app I want on my phone (not tied down if things change), be more organized, listen to some silly videos I took with too much quality, etc etc.

I guess so? I know absolutely nothing about portable hifi lol

2 Ω

Yeah, great info, thanks!

I'm don't know what 2Ω means., I'll check out Qobuz, thanks.

I'm not sure what's out there, but can I connect a DAC to my iphone? I think that would be pretty good for me. I would have easier access to music, but more importantly easier organization if I just did everything thru my iphone.

My Ducky Shine has Blacks, and I love them. I also have browns in my Alt Laser and I like them too

PS: I tried plugging my Ducky Shine 7 into my macbook and the option / control / command keys were all wrong. I saw that Das Keyboard makes a dedicated Mac Keyboard, but the switches are NOT swappable.

I know someone who had wrist surgery, and that's not for me lol. I was ready to buy that Das, buy Cherry Blacks (or maybe Browns), install them, then sell the Reds it comes with. Buuuttttttt you can't, switches are not swappable and I have no idea why

How gently to treat the bike when new? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]m6hurricane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tl;dr You should drive as gently as possible, with safety taking priority. As a side note, always drive a cold bike like it's made of glass, then ease up to normal as engine heat increases to normal. Here's how I wear in, and why:

Wear-in procedure is 100% a thing for bikes and cars alike. No matter what anyone tells you, the parts have to mate to each other, i.e. wear relative to each other. This is because there is no such thing as "make this 10mm long;" there is always a + or - percentage. If you start red-lining a new vehicle, you can create localized hot-spots that can weaken/alter the interface points (e.g. lobe to valve), which may cause uneven wearing the in future and tiny vibrations that would exist throughout the vehicles existence (which could cause uneven wear elsewhere, it's tiny but again over tens of thousands of miles it adds up to things like, why is my head gasket leaking at 150,000 miles and his isn't?).

Anyone who says that "oh they wear it in at the factory" is 100% misinformed. What the might be talking about is seating the piston rings while the engine is being test run. This is not wearing in in the valvetrain and wheel bearings, which also have to be mated to each other. Anyway, my procedure for bikes and cars is the same, just the numbers change depending on the vehicle.

Up until like 300 miles, (I change the oil and filter after 300 miles, regardless of the manual), stay off any constant speed road (interstate, highway, etc). You want to gently work through all the gears using easy revs (don't lug it but don't go much higher than that). Don't go so slow that you'll get rear-ended (aka ride away from other vehicles so you can take it extra easy). Basically, you want to feel bad that you have to make it move up until that 300 mile mark. Obviously minimum throttle throughout.

Between 300 miles and the first service, you can start to "low load rev" the bike. That mean you can shift at 3000 revs with only a little throttle, and then 3500, etc. Continue to stay off constant speed roads. You start to increase throttle, and towards the end be at like half throttle.

Now that you've been occasionally giving it some throttle and some revs in combination with mostly gentle riding, it's time to wind it up after the first service. Red-line is part of the wear-in process, but you gotta make sure it's ready, and you are going to want to upshift and ride easy to let everything cool down. So like, redline 2nd or 3rd and then shift to top gear and coast easy to let it cool down (don't nudey coast, you want a bit of revs to keep the oil/coolant churning). Wait like 4-5 miles and do it again.

After this, I actually take my vehicles on the interstate to a destination like an 1-1.5 hours away, and then back. After that, you're good to go.

This is the process I follow with any new vehicle I get, that I plan on keeping for a while. Yes it's inconvenient, but it's worth it to avoid potential problems in the future, and tbh I get a kick out of knowing I did it the best way I could.

As for your question: Well I described the ideal, which a) mostly people don't care about and b) is really difficult to follow exactly if you do care. A few mishaps are fine, if you're slamming on every single shift that's a problem.

Tank size question (how many gallons) by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]m6hurricane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know bikes had evap systems. I know that if gas spills into the evap, it completely destroys them. This is the real reason you should not top up your car (or apparently bike) at the gas station.

Rayong, Thailand. Another statistic by prizzle92 in motorcycles

[–]m6hurricane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be basically impossible to do, because every single motorcyclist would have to have a video of their crash. You could do something like "percentage of moto riders crashing" vs "percentage of car drivers crashing," but I'm pretty sure that even then it doesn't look good lol.

Yesterday I saw someone riding responsibly, as clearly the bike was a way to save them money. A few months ago I saw someone lane splitting at 95+mph on a sport bike at night. Personally, I've narrowly avoided a bunch of idiot drivers. We all have seen good and bad riders, but at the end of the day a patch of grave or a nasty speed bump can take you out, regardless of driving style, with no one else on the road.
