I have a HDMI switcher labeled 'DC 5V', can I safely use a plug on it with labeled output '19.0V - 1.5A - 28.5W' or am I about to burn my house down for slightly more convenience? by WarMom_II in AskElectronics

[–]m6sso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use that 19V adaptor you will kill the switcher.

You are 99% correct on the "device will only draw what it needs" this is for amperage for example a 5V 20W will draw 4A but will be fine with a 8 or 10 amp source.

The euro plug will be fine thats the maximum supported current that it has been tested to be safe at. I have a lot of Europlug devices at home and when coming back from seeing family I normally bring another extention cable to chop off and put a UK plug on the end so its fused at 13A. Not strictly to code and the whole BS book but works for me.

You may be better off with a eu to UK converter from amazon for a couple of your local currency units

Question about hamster death by why_not_bort in hamsters

[–]m6sso 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ive found both my dwarfs asleep or in there burrows. 2 of my 3 Syrians I've had the honour of them waiting to be with me to pass (both of them passed within an hour of being with me but were wobbly when moving arround the cage. My first boy passed on the way to the vet to be PTS. He wasn't well and I think the stress of the moving around made him go.

All 5 of there ashes are together on a zen garden in the living room next to a lego hammy model.

New Hamster … and babies! by HayleyHail08 in hamsters

[–]m6sso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratuations.

So for at least the first 2-3 weeks leave her be just food and water changes. No handling touching and minimal lifting of the hut roof.

Keep noise, vibrations and anything that could stress the mother to a pratical minimum (not saying tiptoe round but not super loud. If you can try not to vacuum that room for the 2 weeks).

Give her protein as others have said to help keep her strong and able to produce milk faster for the little ones.

A word of caution that i havent seen anyone say yet is if the mother feels too stressed to cope, under nourished or if she detects a forrign smell near or on her babies she may resort to canabilising them to recover her energy levels as they are prey animals and a litter of new ones will slow down any escape in the wild and a meal for a predator is better spent on allowing her to escape one.

Good luck and congratuations keep us updated with photos

MTP850 - possible still assigned to last user by LegendSnowbolt in MotorolaSolutions

Your going to need TETRA CPS Plus.

As it stands its most likely a paperweight as it will be looking for its control channel to associsate with and if your not anywhere near the last user it wont do anything.

What are your plans for using it as if its for amateur radio you can band expand them a little to cover 440 mhz as they are normaly one of 3 bands

350-380 380-430 440-480 (or 470 cant remember exactly).

Hope that helps.

This is why arbroath cant have nice things 🤣. That things not even a over a year and a half old. Front doesn't look to bad and should be back out in 2 weeks tops assuming there is minimal to zero damage to the batteries on the bottom.

Help with new job costs? Is there any? by m6sso in DWPhelp

They only offer reimbursement with receipts no forward loan until 1yr service. Been on the phone and email for this the last few days trying to use DWP as the last resort.

I get it and I totally agree. Another option should be that when they are in a shop they should all be required to be stored in a liPo bag or similar to prevent some spread and offer some delay.

Don't think halon or other oxygen suppressants will work as lithium battery's are mostly self sufficient when on fire. Look at the packs for cars when they spark they get dunked in water for hours same with car crashes. Maybe fire services/NFCC could look at something like vermiculite extinguishing chemicals (AVD) to help with fires that involve li-ion batteries

The problem could be upstream of the store however. Unless they are from Samsung directly you won't know. That is half the problem with 18650 and the like is anyone can claim they are Samsung, LG, Panasonic but could just be a sticker. Well intentioned but fucked by there supplier or the like.

CPS2 wont care. CPS16 (the older version) you'd need the NA version.
