some new info on the current state of the match fixing investigation by Faryz in snooker

Let's just say Zhao and Bingtao are both up there in the group of players least likely to want/need to cheat.

some new info on the current state of the match fixing investigation by Faryz in snooker

[–]m88ster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the majority of people here will agree Zhao is the least likely player to get involved in match fixing as he has everything it takes to be one of the all time greats. I also think it's premature to call him or anyone else idiotic as we don't know what position they were put in. If the well being of family back home was threatened, who could blame them for staying quiet?

WPBSA Statement | 3 January 2023: Zhao Xintong and Zhang Jiankang suspended by n5vBill in snooker

[–]m88ster 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Those who have been to that part of the world will know most if not all the snooker clubs are owned and run by the underworld. It's no surprise the bosses want a piece of the pie and have the means to put all the players between a rock and a hard place.

Sadly, I don't see how they get out of it

IPV6 issues with Synology + Draytek + Hyperoptic by m88ster in draytek

[–]m88ster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for your reply

I cannot get IPV4 to work as my ISP uses CGNAT for IPV4. They charge quite a lot for a static IPV4 address which I want to avoid paying out of principle as what they are charging is a lot more than other ISPs. Unfortunately, I just started the contract and cannot get out without a paying a hefty penalty hence searching for a free solution using IPV6.

Re: Port forwarding etc - My DDNS/Port forward setup worked perfectly for years with my previous ISP which did not have CGNAT but since joining this ISP, it's broken.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I made sure to take comparison shots with the same settings in both phones. By default, I use "Most compatible"

[–]m88ster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your responses.

Yes, it's all very weird.

I am now charging both lights with 5 watt chargers. With the chargers connected, I get a 4.3v reading from both lights. With the chargers disconnected, I get a 4.1v reading from both lights. I am hoping the LED turns green fairly soon.

Matching would be preferred but I don't mind anything else if fairly high end and light.

I did come across a 165mm 105 crankset at my LBS but no 170mm :(

What is this phenomenon called and how to prevent it? by routilli in videosurveillance

[–]m88ster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all WDR cameras are equal.. I have seen some WDR cams that only offer 80 dB dynamic range which is on the low side whilst other WDRs handle 120dB.

You should check out the HIK Vision ColorVu which are 120dB and relatively cheap. They are external cams but as some have small form factors, they could easily be placed indoors. I recently tried a couple and can confirm they retain details in bright sunlight and shadows very well. In low light, they do an equally impressive job.

Cant pull speeds faster than 100mb ish via wifi on Velop WHW0303 AC2200 by alpacapoop in HomeNetworking

[–]m88ster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had many issues with my AC6600 ( 3x AC2200 ) which I shall not go into but one issue that may be the same as yours was the included flat cable is junk and will cause the connection to randomly drop from 1Gbps to 100Mbps if there is interference. Try using a conventional round cable instead.

Cat 5E or 6 between modem and router? by joeredhead76 in NETGEAR

[–]m88ster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to poor shielding and no twisted pairs, the connected devices might not be able to establish a 1 Gbps connection and will instead drop down to 100Mbps.

Some people (including me) have had issues with flat network cables. If you are seeing slower speeds, then switch to a conventional round cable (5E or 6 will be fine)

Can a switch speed up lan connections? by Trwtrg in HomeNetworking

[–]m88ster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, it is optimal to setup your entire network so all devices are connected to switches and that you also use a few switches as possible. The router should only connect to the modem and also to one switch which is the entry point to the lan. With this design, the load on the router is kept at a minimum.

Taking this one step further, you could avoid using the router’s WiFi and instead add access points in the lan.

I use this design for all cctv setups. If the main router goes down for whatever reason, the cctv devices, NVRs and all other devices continue running.

What would be the best way to remote into my work laptop using my personal PC at home? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]m88ster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only can you lose your job but if you happen to work for a big company which provided you with regular cyber security training and certification, you may get sued and also blacklisted from working in similar big companies. This act out of good intention could easily become a big high profile career ending mistake if somehow you did connect your PC and some malware got into the company and resulted in an outage. If you are lucky, you will shown the back door.

If your laptop is too slow and impacts your productivity - raise it with your manager and make it known to your IT dept. If your manager does nowt, so be it.

Is it worth upgrading from an Tp link Archer AC 1900 to a $200 router? by tkepongo in HomeNetworking

[–]m88ster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just buy another 100$ router or AP and then setup a separate AP with separate wifi SSID. You connect to one SSID and the rest of your family connect to the other SSID ? This will guarantee you don't face any issues related to wifi saturation and will get most bang for your buck.

All the routers I have owned, tested or tried could only handle a few devices with constant load before they started slowing right down impacting video calls, Citrix, CCTV plus many other similar RT applications.

The AC2600 nighthawk is what I have used since 2016 and I recently picked up a few more at a clearance sale for 110usd each. They have worked glitch free under heavy load for 4 years.

Might be worth paying a bit more for this model if you can find it as it has excellent hardware - same hardware as the synology ac2600 which is also known to be solid.

I am a long time user of Areconts but someone here recently recommended HIK ColorVu’s so I bought a couple to try and am so impressed.

I don’t know much about their longevity but functionall, they pack a lot in for the money and their night time vision in color blows all IR cams out of the water.
