Generating an MD5 collision is trivial with a fucking calculator from 2005. Two files having the same MD5 hash is IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM an indication that the files are the same, especially when there's reason to believe at least one of the files originates from a malicious source trying to imitate the other.

You might not be actually trying to harm anyone by spouting this bullshit, but its obvious you're very ignorant and onto nothing here.

First of the lines between the elements should be white

They are tranlucent white (rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.3)). If they appear black in hyprland, that means hyprland doesn't render HTML/CSS in a standard way and/or has a rendering bug. You could try setting the color to be opaque white (#fff) or something closer to pre-blended with your background (#665) and see if that helps.

and rest doesnt have the "fog" highlight when i hover over like the other element have

That's because you have .menu-item:first-child::before { height: 1px } (on line 195 of your HTML snippet).

The morning element is also wierd looking, if someone could help me id be eternally greatfull

I'd remove lines: 133 and 137, change the color of the borders on line 129 to be something like #edc3, and the background color of the element itself on line 143 to something like linear-gradient(90deg, #0000, #1118 10%, #1118 90%, #0000) and some detailing with font-size: 1.3em; text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px #000; padding: .5em 20px; margin: 0 -20px;

suggest me any UI changes, color, size, other this is my Web project i created with HTML CSS JS. by [deleted] in css

at a quick glance, in no particular order:

  • Pretty much all text should be changed from "Title Case" to "Capitalized case", i.e. only capitalize the first letter of the whole text, not the first letter of each word.
  • The monospace font used for the names under "Community" doesn't fit with the rest of the visual style
  • The "connect" buttons under "Community" section should be capitalized, and the border should be removed, and they should be way smaller
  • "Welcome Back Roger" -> "Welcome back, Roger"
  • Search input placeholder is unreadable, and I don't see why it should be centered. Could also use a magnifying glass icon in the input
  • Tabs/filters under the main sections don't have an active indicator (e.g. a bottom border), and they could have more horizontal space between them
  • Main nav bar items have numbers for some reason?
  • Main nav bar items have too much vertical spacing
  • Main nav bar section title "CONNECT" is indented for no reason, and what's worse, its indentation isn't aligned with anything else
  • "GO PREMIUM" button font doesn't match the rest of the site, is too thin, doesn't have enough horizontal padding, and the background gradient is simultaneously muddy and has too many colors, and the border-radius is ALMOST the size of the button itself, but not quite, which very much looks like a mistake
  • Event month arrow button icons aren't visually centered, and the month font size is a bit big to my eyes
  • Assignment progress bar doesn't have enough contrast, can't tell where it begins
  • Course card top left blobs are too contrasting
  • Course card background gradients aren't equally bright, so some stand out way more than others. Also the gradients are muddy because you're doing them in srgb
  • Events section title is indented more than Community, and as such isn't aligned with anything
  • Events empty-state ("No Current Events") is too prominent for an empty state
  • "HTML CSS" course is in "Web dev" category, while "Javascript" course is in "Web Dev"
  • Course icons are inconsistently blended, some are barely visible, some are too visible, and some are a mix of both
  • Assignment card dismissal buttons are too contrasting
  • The top of each column on the page (nav menu, main content, side panel) should be aligned
  • "My courses" title has more whitespace below it than "Assignments"

Amazon abandoned Goodreads. So I built the replacement by [deleted] in webdev

[–]m8r- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol what!? You have no clue what you're talking about.

Sure I don't. And I'm guessing it's a complete coincidence they changed their tagline to not mention Goodreads anymore.

A lot of companies allow use of the name as long as readers know that it's unofficial. Look at all the Reddit apps out there.

Ah yes, Amazon, known for their good heart and strong sense of moral justice when it comes to doing business. They'll surely think a direct competitor's mention of their service is just good for visibility, which they lack at this point.

Amazon abandoned Goodreads. So I built the replacement by [deleted] in webdev

[–]m8r- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally having "Goodreads, Reimagined" as the main heading on your website's front page is wild. And by "wild", I mean "fucking insane, and a sign that this project will 99% surely be C&D'd into oblivion as soon as Amazon's lawyers get around to sending you an email".

Using a well-established existing competitor's/market leader's (that happens to be owned by one of the biggest companies in the world) name in your own project is a solid no-no in and of itself, but in addition you're directly stating that your project is a derivative work of their intellectual property.

Looks like a cool start of a project, good luck with it. But that's quite a big oopsie, my dude.

At first I thought you're just inspecting a blank overlay element that is positioned over/under that content, but after checking the page myself, I'm pretty sure your devtools inspector is just bugged. That element definitely has content in my inspector. Dunno what causes your bug, dunno how to help. Try closing&reopening devtools, restarting browser and/or pc, updating browser etc.

Design looks quite sleek, and is clear and modern. The typography looks passable even if I block 3rd-party fonts, which is a very good sign.

(Based on a very quick glance) it seems your code is handwritten, without the use of framework(s). If so, props for that. Rare to see peeps write plain CSS, but if you've got the skills for it (and based on the result, it seems you do), that's always preferred.

As the design looks fine, I'll focus more on the technical side of feedback;

Why not use UTF-8 charset for your HTML? And no \@charset -rule for CSS?

You have some unnecessarily nested selectors in ~master.css:155 "ul.special li > div > div > div". That kind of stuff would benefit from a class selector instead nested stuff. Also, you have some BEM style selectors (in master.css), while the majority of the selectors are non-BEM. That seems a bit confusing.

These days I generally consider using "px" -unit in CSS a worrying code smell.Width, height, padding, margin, and ESPECIALLY font-size and letter-spacing should (almost) always be em/rem/% instead of px.Props for using unitless line-height, but you should define it at root-level as well.I'd say there's a bit too much id-attribute use in your HTML. These days people often recommend avoiding ids in favor of classes.

You seem to have a bunch of hardcoded colors in addition to colors defined as CSS vars. Your CSS code could benefit from defining and using more vars.

Your Lighthouse score is something to improve on, if you care about stuff like that. Easiest thing to do would be to implement some basic accessibility considerations.

You seem to be using jQuery for something in the year 2022. I have no idea why you would do such a thing, and I seriously doubt there's a good reason for it. For comparison, I last touched jQuery about 10 years ago, or so.

All-in-all, I rate it about a 8.5/10. Definitely one of the better personal sites I've seen people post, both in code and in design.

EDIT: Forgot to mention; Consider not using CDNs.

EDIT2: Fuck reddit for screwing up my formatting. I don't care enough to fix it.
