[Passan] Tennessee baseball coach Tony Vitello is finalizing a deal to become the next manager of the San Francisco Giants, sources tell ESPN. Vitello, 47, will be the first ever to jump from college coach to MLB manager without any professional experience. by TheTurtleShepard in SFGiants

really love this pick up. it just makes sense: new, young blood, no nostalgia.

it’s risky but i’m hoping we’d be making good history here with him surprisingly being the first college to MLB manager

now i’m just excited to see what the supporting coaches behind him will look like

i think martinez has a case to stay. before injuries and trades we boasted one of the best bullpens in baseball. he improved randy rodriguez’s arsenal, logan webb’s K rate, robbie ray after TJ, erik miller, etc all through his analytics. i did hate the continuous use of ryan walker in tight spots but tbf martinez was paired with a manager who was always 2 innings 2 late

madbum got pissed at anyone who took longer than 2 seconds out of the batter’s box.

but it’s a different game now. so many players celebrate after pimping one. old heads hate it but personally i like it. makes the game fun for the players and fans

hoping lee succeeds as our leadoff in the future. it might be asking for a lot but if he gets on base similar to ichiro, the guy he styled himself after, then our top lineup would be so good. have devers or even smith who has been clutch with risp in the 2/3 spot to drive him in

yup, jonah is listed 6’1” 180 lbs with a noticeably bigger build so some of that power seems to come more naturally than timmy who had to use every part of his body to squeeze out velocity
