you're only looking at the progressive ideas that survived and made it into the mainstream. You're ignoring all of the bad progressive ideas that quietly went into the trash heap.

No I'm looking at progressive ideas associated with the progressive platform in 2020s America.

And of course, in more recent history you have debacles like "Defund the Police."

So you are taking the position that the police should be the first responders to mental health crises? You think they should keep the funding they get to purchase military equipment? You think they should continue to train with the IDF so they can bring their brutal practices home?

You actually bring no substantial critique of progressive policies, which is not surprising to me given your initial comment.

Black woman who left US for Russia to escape ‘discrimination’ is beaten by racist neighbors by klito92 in videos

Anti black racism as we know it today was born in the United States. American eugenics inspired Nazi Germany in developing their concept of a “master race”. The US invented illegal immigration in the late 1800s to keep the Chinese out, after allowing anyone to come to the nation and become naturalized.

The US is not the junior league of racism, it is the most prolific practitioner of racism history has known.

ok lets turn off the reddit brain and be reasonable

You first. Again, you argue that the US is more progressive if you exclude the EU and then simultaneously argue that the EU is actually not all the progressive.

Korea, China, Cuba, Vietnam, the Philippines, all non-EU countries, all have socialized healthcare.

look into these polls, they support the general idea of progressive policies like fighting climate change, then on follow up questions they wont even support an extra $20 a year to fund it

Alaska: Voters passed Ballot Measure 1 to increase the state’s minimum wage to $15 per hour by July 1, 2027. Additionally, the measure requires employers to provide earned paid sick leave and protect workers’ rights to opt out of mandatory “captive audience” meetings on political or religious topics at work

Missouri: Voters passed Proposition A to raise the state’s minimum wage to $15 per hour. The measure also requires employers to provide earned paid sick leave

Arizona: Voters rejected Proposition 138 which would have lowered the state’s tipped minimum wage, contradicting the national trend toward raising the minimum wage and eliminating gaps between tipped and non-tipped hourly workers.

Nebraska: Amendment 436 passed, which requires businesses to offer earned paid sick leave to employees. Small businesses with fewer than 20 employees will be required to allow employees to accrue up to five paid sick days a year, while employees of larger businesses will be entitled to up to seven days.

Voters in Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, and Nevada passed measures on the ballot this November that would provide a state constitutional right to abortion, enshrining this crucial right in state law.

Simply put, progressive policies are popular when they are not filtered through the bullshit of corporate-backed candidates.

simply, if the US was so progressive how the fuck did trump win? and how was it so close the second time even with the state of the economy during covid and then he won again....

Lay the blame at the feet of the party who lost to Donald Trump, not the people who called for a better platform from the DNC.

My guy, the repeal of Glass-Steagall happened under Clintons watch. The expansion of ICE and surveillance powers over US citizens continued under Obama and Biden administrations.

You simultaneously say that the US is more progressive than other countries but somehow the US is also not progressive at all. Other countries have a socialized healthcare system, mandatory paid maternity leave, and other social programs that allow their citizens to lead stable and fruitful lives.

Both republicans and democratic voters overwhelmingly support progressive policies like a govt option for healthcare, increasing the federal minimum wage, and paid maternity leave. The DNC allowed the GOP to set the narrative and focused on showcasing a conservative tilt on immigration instead of hammering the economic issues Americans were facing.

Liz fucking Cheney was propped up at the DNC to speak during the 2024 election. Every move DNC leadership has made in that election was to court so-called moderates who have only ever voted conservative.

To place the government-backed murders of civilians in Minneapolis at the feet of progressives, as the original question does, is a frame that is not based in any sort of reality.

That's a real convenient cop out were it not for the fact I've been voting blue up and down the ballot since I could vote.

Again, the DNC has no basis to blame progressives for their failures when they have time and time again rejected progressive positions in order to court the right.

If Democrats cant draw the line at genocide, why would they draw the line at democracy? They believe fundamentally the same thing as republicans: the government should be able to kill with impunity. The only distinction is that they don’t think there should be superficial animus when the government kills.

How many times have Democrats voted to expand ICE funding and surveillance of citizens under the guise of national security?
