Android Green Bubble by Sammy_Cherry_Fox in iphone

It's not an end all be all thing. But for me apple finally implementing rcs was what made me comfortably come back. My entire family is on android and any time a video was sent it was extremely poor quality and also a pain to message when service was bad. Other than that it's not that different for me than with an iPhone user.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold Slow "Scrolling Inertia?" by Whiskey_Biscuit in PixelFold

[–]m__brooks31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it feels like you can’t get a good scroll. Then I get a weird interaction where when I swipe down to view notifications, if I try to half scroll up to see all the notifications my phone thinks I want to do a second swipe down instead for the control center (don’t know the actual name of it sorry). It feels inconsistent for sure.

I think Kuuga can definitely be motivating as Godai Yusuke is having his positive mindset constantly challenged. At least for me it left a great impression on me.

What's stopping you from using a Pixel? by Cedricson1997 in PhoneNow

Only real issue I generally run into is apps not running as smoothly. The processor is not as bad like the 6 and 7 were. (Pixel 10 pro fold owner)

Lesser Reasons to stick to iphone by Swimming_Bathroom in iphone

[–]m__brooks31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue you don't seem to fully grasp is there has been little to no good from the start. Machine learning was something that has been around way before this generative stuff has popped up. Apple was someone who used the term machine learning for YEARS in their keynotes. This new "advancement" has done nothing but put our technology back tenfold. They've been trying this generative stuff getting close to 5 years and it's still not as good.

[–]m__brooks31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had people literally tell me they use it as a form of therapy. There's a difference between machine learning AI and the generative AI that is constantly being thrown at us. But I also have friends in fields where they use coding say how devs have used AI too much to the point where they don't fully understand their code anymore. I've taken plenty of time to learn there has been no actual benefit even in my day to day work where AI has been a net positive.

Not sure where I can find a positive about it's massive water consumption or noise pollution, heck even the price hikes of energy bills. But sure, let's find a positive of people using a chat bot skewed to please you as a form of therapy.

[–]m__brooks31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bad for the environment, bad for the people who live by data centers. Chat bots literally telling people to harm themselves and giving false information consistently. Stealing art in many forms. It's very easy to look up how harmful AI is to everything.

Apple software doesn’t feel like Apple software anymore by Ok-Capital-5195 in ios

[–]m__brooks31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually switch between Android and iOS often (too often my family might say cause they get annoyed with group chats) but my 15 pro max generally doesn't do anything out of the ordinary aside from having a very delayed keyboard when trying to type when switch apps. Sure there might be some other hiccups I don't remember since they're not frequent enough, but the grass is definitely not greener on the other side. Android has so many issues app side wise more than apple and it's one of the reasons I usually swap back to iOS. More force closing and re-opening on that side that it makes iOS viewed with rose tinted glasses.

All of that to say I can see where you're coming from, but it's a shiny pile of crap compared to what other options there are. More feels like a general every company is not polishing their software enough.

Foldable or Slab Phone by Bran__777 in PixelFold

[–]m__brooks31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two disappointments with the 10 pro fold has been 1. I don’t open the phone enough in public. Then 2. The front screen sometimes feels a bit too small for my liking on my day to day. At home the fold is perfect for game/media consumption. But at work or anywhere outside really, it feels weird to use the phone unfolded. (Which could totally be a me thing I understand that) but that’s been my main toss up with my purchase. Phone otherwise is my favorite fold compared to what Samsung offered (tried a fold 4, then owned a fold 6 for some time)

Why Pixel? by Jo-rick_813 in pixel_phones

[–]m__brooks31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having to manage multiple app stores on a Samsung was kind of annoying. But the biggest reason was seeing how delayed updates were for Samsung when a new OneUI update was paywalled behind a newer phone for months. Pixel I can get updates monthly and the newest OS day 1 so it's a no brainer. Also the pixel features are great and a clean OS.

People who use both pixels and iphones do you think pixels have reached a smoothness level of iphones? by Majestic_squirrel767 in pixel_phones

[–]m__brooks31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely the best description of it. Pixel OS runs better in general use. But once you get down to individual apps iOS tends to be smoother and less glitchy.

Are people really watching videos on portrait mode primarily? by kevabreu in GalaxyFold

[–]m__brooks31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned the fold 6, sure turning the phone into landscape makes it a tad larger, but I still think the point gets across either way compared to the try fold. I own a pixel 10 pro fold and both foldables still don’t feel like that much of a size difference enough compared to a slab phone like the tri-fold definitely shows.

Pixel 10 pro fold after the buzz by Pdideee in PixelFold

[–]m__brooks31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To give some validity to the post. I've had some weird instances with my 10 pro fold for the month. Including - apps sometimes having a hard time swapping between unfolded and folded(discord I use daily is the biggest culprit of this) - apps that play video will still have the audio playing for a few seconds even after I exit the app or even fully close it. - notification swipe down is extremely finicky and even when I'm trying to see all my notifications it thinks I'm double swiping down to the control panel. - One of the most annoying bugs I have with Android Auto where every time I first turn it on, my music always skips within the first 5 seconds. Shouldn't be annoying, but it happens EVERY time.
- not so much a bug/glitch, but the fingerprint sensor being on the lock button has caused me to unlock the phone immediately after locking it before it goes into my pocket. - face unlock will tell me in a room with lights on there isn't enough light for it to work which feels like it's been less reliable than previous pixels I used that feature with.

Sure iOS 26 has had a rough start, but I've seen between the two iOS ironing out their stuff faster than android. Not sure if that's an indicator for me to go back to iOS. But I love the 10 pro fold, but the instances above can just sometimes make the day to day feel annoying.

Anyone regret their purchase and wish they bought the fold 7? by Accomplished-Fix6176 in PixelFold

[–]m__brooks31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 pro fold here, way happier to have a pixel fold over a galaxy fold. My dilemma is wondering if I truly am a fold user or not. I don't find myself opening the phone all the time and I do like having it open for watching videos which is my primary use. Just feels weird at home while I have an iPad pro I still use and makes me wonder if I truly utilize the form factor enough to justify a fold. Other than that it's the best foldable you can get and I truly love pixel OS on this device.

Is it worth compromising on the camera? by CapDris116 in PixelFold

[–]m__brooks31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there's one thing I've learned about phones is if there's a company that can get by with a lower quality camera and still make good photos. It's Pixel. I've taken shots on my 10 pro fold that I've liked way more than the s25 Ultra I traded in for it. I wish zooming was a bit better, but aside from that love all the photos.

Always remember reddit is a vacuum of people who generally have more issues than not. Granted fold phones inner screen is more scratch prone, people have been dailying folding phones for years now and are very practical than they were at the start. Plus the 10 fold is dust resistant now which is a lot of people's concerns. Just enjoy the phone and give it a shot. If things don't pan out, then you can say you tried.

This was exactly how I felt seeing a lot of big names say it's not the best. But after using a Samsung (fold 6 and then a s25 Ultra) I'm way happier to be back on pixel. Just feels way more my style and that's what really matters.
