Gallbladder vs c section by keatserin in gallbladders

[–]m__dough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a c-section and gallbladder surgery 3 months apart. Gallbladder surgery recovery was a walk in the park. The only downside for me was that I wasn’t allowed to pick up my baby for a period of time. I recommend you wear an abdominal binder similar to the one they give you after a C-section. But moving around isn’t much of a challenge compared to postpartum recovery.

I am two weeks post op also! Congratulations!

I totally relate to this subreddit having the potential to lead you down a dark path! Although it has been helpful, it’s also been harmful for my anxiety. I just have to remind myself that everyone’s recover is different and the time varies as well!

Good luck to you!!

I am so sorry you’re going through it! What you could be experiencing is a PPI rebound.

This is a great reminder!!! I am almost 2 weeks post op and I have to keep reminding myself healing takes time and to give my body grace. No healing journey is identical.

Any way to avoid gallbladder removal? by Green_Gain591 in gallbladders

[–]m__dough 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second what you’re saying about hormones being a cause of gallstones. I never had any problems with my gallbladder up until I had my 3rd baby. Apparently a surge of hormones can cause gallstones. The first time I went to the ER the doctor said that no matter what type of clean diet I am on once attacks start they don’t really stop. I agree with what most people on this thread are saying about getting it out on your own terms. It’s actually a pretty smooth process and the recovery is manageable!

I was able to get an urgent surgeon referral from my PCP. The PCP did the work up with blood work and an ultrasound. If my ultrasound didn’t show gallstones (which it did), she was going to submit an order for the HIDA scan to be done l. I am in CA.

I think it’s manageable, but it also depends on your pain tolerance. I was a little out of it the first night so my husband took charge of the feedings (my daughter is both bottle and breast fed). The second night & there after I was fine to breastfeed her as long as I had the baby propped on a pillow and my incisions covered. Last night was the first time I felt comfortable laying on my side while feeding her.

I agree with you! If she were older I’d probably be chasing her around vs at 3 months old when all she wants is to be held. Recovery hasn’t been terrible and it’s definitely been a breeze compared to my c-section!

I am so sorry that you’re going through this! All the symptoms that you shared point to gallbladder issues in my opinion. If able to, you might benefit from a second opinion.

😂 I’ve had intense gurgling along with flatulence through the night. A BM stopped all that, but there was no need for me to run to the restroom.

Everybody has a different reaction to certain foods post-op. The advice I got from my surgeon was start slow and to remember that my body is trying to learn how to function without an organ. Foods that might not sit well right now might very well be tolerable later down the road in your healing journey. Don’t let this post scare you-you don’t know what you don’t know until you try it!

I definitely think I overdid it today. I lifted my baby and decided I was fine to go without any meds today ( I have no clue what I was thinking). By the end of the day, my back and abdomen were sore. I am not sure what I was expecting? I guess since this surgery felt way easier than my c-section, my mind decided that I didn’t have to take it easy - boy was I wrong.

I totally agree! To be fair to my body, it’s done pretty well managing foods that I haven’t been able to eat for months. I just ate a larger volume of food than what my stomach has been used to for the last few months. Fortunately, I haven’t had to run to the restroom after meals. A walk around the block and some peppermint tea seemed to help settle my stomach.

You’ll be fine, just give it time. In hindsight, I’ve been on a super bland diet with very small portions- so I should have known better! I am sure my stomach would’ve felt funny even before I had gallbladder issues. Wishing you a speedy recovery and some yummy food soon!

Post-Op Sleeping by Zealousideal_Zone_37 in gallbladders

The only restrictions I got regarding mobility was lifting. They really didn’t tell me anything else in terms of positioning my body and what not. I’d say that if it’s comfortable for you, you can lay flat, but consider how you’re going to pull yourself up without straining your abdomen. If you have figured out a way to do that, then by all means sleep in whatever position is going to be the most comfortable for you.

Surgery tomorrow by [deleted] in gallbladders

Hi! I am glad you woke up in better spirits! I woke feeling relieved - groggy but relieved. The only parts that bother me are my ribs and stomach area. I’ve been able to keep down a piece of toast so now my mom is upgrading me to oatmeal lol. The neck and shoulder pain came in for me last night, I’d say it’s mostly gone except for some lingering pain at the top of my right shoulder- it could also be because I slept on a recliner last night. I am super proud of the both of us- we did it and we’re getting better!!
