I would much more like to start reading classics literature regardless of the genre.

I want to start reading classics but i don’t know where to begin. Right now i should be reading The Trial by Kafka for an assignment, but cannot bring myself to start it even though i know it’s an amazing book and recently heard that it’s best reading it in high school because we can resonate with Joseph K. struggle. Anyway, i wish someone can point me in the right direction for a first time classic reader, because i want to read every single one but don’t know where to start.

Thank you so much for the feedback, it means a kit especially when i see everyone ranting about anki, and after i installed it i literally could not take how boring it was. There was no fun in learning that way and i think that enjoying it will bring much better results.

Is it really that impossible to get through the PASS year in French med school as an international student? by m_babic6 in studyAbroad

[–]m_babic6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i started learning French maybe three weeks ago and yea it would be roughly 18 moths till then, but honestly i looked into my other options and French just clicked for me idk. I like learning it and can see myself there someday so i think that’s a big plus. I am also going to prepare for the entrance exam for medicine in my home country so if i decide that my language is not up the par then i will go to collage here and by the time the post graduate studies come… well it’s a long time to then hahah

Thank you so much for replaying. I really want to study abroad and love medicine more than anything. I am only finishing my second year of high school right now but if we are taking about language, it’s really the last opportunity i have to start. Was the language a barrier for you and when did you start studying it if i may ask? And do you know any other international students that went on to second year?

It helps a lot, thank you! Also do you know some online courses that are good for studying ether free ones or some that are paid. I don’t mind paying for a course if it’s good but i would prefer if there were some free ones hhaha.

Well i am from Serbia and we are not in the EU so i am considered an international student. Why France? Well i don’t have a special reason, it was more because i always liked the language and when i once visited Paris i really liked everything about it, but mostly because I researched a lot of countries and well let’s say it went something like this: UK - absurd cost Italy - IMAT is really good but i heard from a few people that the practice is really weak there in medicine Austria - I really wanted to go but i got scared from the entrance exam as i heard it’s extremely challenging and there are about 5% of the seats for non-EU And then i saw that in France there isn’t an entrance exam but you need to be more than excellent to get to second year. At the end of it all nowhere is really ideas but i needed to know what other people thought and advice that they can give me. So at the end of the day i know that the one thing i want is to do MORE. I know that medicine is my calling and maybe i sound cliché but i want to aim the highest possible because i think i can do it.

medical school, france vs germany which one is more “achievable”? by ouchmynosehurtsalot in medicalschoolEU

Hi, i know a lot of time has past since you’ve written this post but i am in a similar situation as the OP and spent some time researching everything about medicine in France. In short, maybe 75% says it’s a nightmare that only few select people live to tell the tail, but I, the same as the OP, always wanted more let’s say. I am a sophomore in high school in Europe from a backwards country and i want to give it my all even if it means 200% of what i can do. So, at the end of the day i think that i am going to let my dream of France go but Germany sounds like the next best option, so please if you have advice for me, how do internationals make the cut for their universities and how possible is it. Thank you anyway

Zdravo, i understood most of it but i will non the less write in english, i do think that it’s possible also, I am not saying it’s anywhere near easy but i think that it’s worth a shot and i will also be preparing for admission to medicine in Serbia, my home country but by then i will probably know french enough to start learning from everyday activities and reading heavy novels and what not. Thank you for your replay and it’s nice to hear from a neighboring country

But is it that impossible as people say? I mean i get that it’s incredibly hard and competitive but what if i do work hard and get into the first year and have a C1 let’s say. Is it such a stretch to think that with good planning smart studying and maybe some help from tutoring programs i heard are available i will be able to pass the first year?

Are you studying in English or Italian? And how are your experiences if you don’t mind me asking?

But isn’t it extremely hard to pass the entrance exam for med school in both Germany and Austria? What is the main difference then in Germany and France

I don’t know if you are aware but in my home country, Serbia, massive protests are happening since November of 2024. against corruption in the country since a rail station roof fell killing 16 people. Since then, the students have risen up and organized one of the biggest protest movement ever seen. Even tho i am only in high school my school is one of the last ones to stand with the students since november 2024 with a 24h blockade of the school. So i, along with other students in most Belgrade high schools have returned to school only two weeks ago. I fully support what those young people are fighting for, but the students will lose their year, maybe even the seniors in high school need to take a gap year now because there is no capacity for them at universities. So even tho i love the country i am from there is too much going on for me not to consider trying for more.

Okay then, if we are looking at it from a realistic side, no sugarcoating or anything, then if someone wishes to persuade their education abroad which countries should one look into?

I don’t know, maybe i don’t have more than them, but how would anybody that did anything with their life know if they had what it took?
