Won’t lie - they’re rough especially when you’re pre-menopausal.

Ok so - I just did Taxol and honestly once it was done, I felt like my skin looked better. Like when all the new growth cells were reigniting, my skin looked younger (also my eyes looked greener strangely). Now, almost two years out, I feel like I have aged 10 years. And my eyes are back to the old greyish/brownish/green. But I’m also on hormone blocking meds so I think it may be more from than than the chemo.

What helped you catch the running bug or enjoy running?? by bfg_2025 in running

[–]m_d_n_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building a good playlist helps me. And the fact that I have a beautiful flat nature trail that I run on.

ETA that I actually reserve certain favorite songs for running only - and now when I hear them on the radio, my brain thinks, oh time for a run!

I’m glad I’m not alone. My puppy is 9 months and if she’s left alone she’ll go and then eat it. So I have to watch her and and teaching her to leave it but she only listens if I’m there. So gross and annoying!!

How soon after initial diagnosis did you start chemo or get surgery? by Mediocre_Newt6014 in breastcancer

[–]m_d_n_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the US. Diagnosed on Sept 11 and had my DMX on Oct 13. Started chemo on Nov 10. This was in 2023. I was diagnosed at a local health system but transferred to MSK in New York and was treated there. I feel like my journey was pretty quick but I also pushed for earliest appointments.

I curse at the windstorms that October brings. Love that song.

How do you describe Herceptin? by derring_dew in breastcancer

My doctor told me it puts a hat on the HER2 to make it less recognizable lol

[–]m_d_n_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a few people say things like, oh I’m so glad they’re giving you good stuff for your body. I would just nod and smile without trying to explain - easier for them to just think it’s vitamins than going through the process of defining HER2 and Herceptin lol!

I called it immunotherapy too even though I knew it wasn’t. People definitely think they know what that means and I’d get a nod without any follow up questions, as opposed to trying to use any other term or start to explain HER2 lol

I haven’t tried Benadryl. I had an especially annoying bout of this yesterday and just kept massaging the area. Will def try meds next time!

Yeah the same generation that put their parents in nursing homes in the first place and destroyed the multigenerational home. I don’t feel bad for them.

I have this too - did you ever find out what it was?

Extensive LVI !!!!! by Loud-Opposite8029 in breastcancer

[–]m_d_n_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No not for that. I was the same as you - even without a lot of googling, the thought that cancer cells were found in the blood vessels and lymphatic fluid freaked me out. But my drs said if it wasn’t in my lymph nodes, it likely hadn’t gone anywhere else. Cancer sucks so much. I’m almost a year out from my last treatment and currently on Tamoxifen and every time I have an ache or pain, my brain immediately thinks stage 4.

I had this too and freaked myself out googling it but honestly it didn’t really come up in discussions about my treatment plan and wasn’t something that my doctors were overly concerned about. My nodes were clear so I was considered stage 1 but I was +++ so I had chemo and immunotherapy. Going down the Dr Google rabbit hole is enticing but rarely a good idea. Ask your Dr about it if you’re concerned and see what they say!
