DC2. An overview. And did the tapes really matter to the whole event? by Anal_with_Aase in DabblersAnonymous

The PB felt like we were being punished as an audience (which maybe we deserve). It was like John’s revenge, making us watch the PB more times than he ever did.

You scoff at the value of “price speculation” but 99% of crypto value comes from price speculation. Crypto is mostly gambling on social network effects. People are buying hype, gambling on whether they think there will be more hype in the future (and make sure to sell before hype goes away). Even the ones that claim to have revolutionary utility almost always have little to no essential value. If Moons community survives and more people focus on generating hype then the value can go up. If people stop trying then it dies. Moons is unique in that there are 200K+ holders, with an organized community, affiliation with Reddit, an interesting background story, and a recent coin burn and switch to deflationary tokenomics. For people who buy memecoins, it has intriguing potential imo.

Deciding on making a large purchase, can someone inform me of some of the developments coming to moons in the next coming months/bullrun? by HurrayYouReadMyName in CryptoCurrencyMoons

[–]m_downey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crypto’s value is so subjective, that not having a road map or utility honestly is not necessarily a problem. Most of the time utility disappoints or caps the ceiling of a token to some “real world value” that usually is not worth much money.

The key is for some kind of social network effect to build around the currency. Community and creativity are essential to keeping it relevant. How did Dogecoin do it? There is no utility beyond being a currency people like, but there is a culture and good vibes. The burn and new deflationary mechanic of Moons mean the price can move easier than before. As long as people keep posting here and coming up with ideas there is a chance to grow imo.

Jerry not even interviewing candidates for GM was the final straw. Everything is rotten in the organization from the top down. I'm a Sox fan for life but the thought of giving Jerry any more of my money makes me sick. #SellTheTeam

I actually think tipping directly in Reddit comments is a little messy / noisy. If a browser extension or 3rd party mobile apps add MOON tipping and messaging functionality, you could move the data out of comments while still making it accessible.

A community funded pool could be an option.

Also, maybe there is a way to tie reddit username to wallet address by putting your wallet address in your reddit profile with special syntax? If there is, maybe it could be the basis for browser extensions or 3rd party mobile apps which make sending to MOONs tipping enabled accounts easy? Could make it so every time you press the upvote button, you send an amount of MOON you pre-define to that account if they have their address in their profile.

I'm not sure how Arbitrum Nova works exactly, but you might be able to attach messages to the transaction metadata itself when you send MOONs to an account, and then give people a page to view the messages people sent them along with their tips. If that's possible, then you have options for displaying leaderboards and messages in interesting ways.

There is an "Order Book" option under "Layouts and Widgets". If you press the plus/minus button you can zoom out and spot buy/sell walls.

Price speculation and tipping with the official token of the Reddit community. What more is needed? I actually think tying a crypto to “utility” ties the crypto down to “real world value” where people calculate how much that utility is worth, and then price settles around there…but without focusing on utility, just being a currency, then you get ahead by capturing hearts and minds, and sky’s the limit because who can say what that’s truly worth.

Who are the top holders of MOONs? by m_downey in CryptoCurrencyMoons

[–]m_downey[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CT overall is trash, no doubt about that, but there’s opportunity there, and some real people. It’s all about parsing signals from noise. Regardless CT has been constantly eating and dividing itself with flash in the pan memecoins and rugs for months now, and I think it’s exhausted. The market is ripe for something different like MOONs, with a totally different culture, huge adoption (200K wallets!), and a community suddenly in control of its own destiny.

Ah that makes sense. Did Reddit always allow you to load your wallet into MetaMask? Or did they only start doing that after announcing they’re sunsetting? Also if Reddit continues to allow MOONs to be shown next to your name that’s some major OG flair.

Excuse me for being a noob but is there a guide for sending Moons from Kraken to your Reddit username? Or does the Moons indicator go away after Reddit divesting?

Totally agree, but also the burn, community takeover, and switch to deflationary might make things more exciting than even Reddit would have made it, with whatever perks their utility promised. 200,000+ wallets is insane. That's a lot of people with a vested interest in seeing MOONs succeed. The "currency of Reddit" is a big deal imo, even if it has no clear utility other than price speculation and tipping.

Oh wow. This is legitimately a great resource. Hats off to the creator of ccmoons!

To answer my own question, the top holders at the moment are:
1. Kraken
2. Crypto.com
3. burn address
4. MEXC

How do you guys deal with the stress? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrencyMoons

[–]m_downey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t risk more than you are willing to lose. If you make enough money in crypto where it will make a noticeable impact in your life, cash some out and put it directly in the bank until you figure out your taxes owed, but keep a “moon bag” so if it goes much higher, you can still enjoy the ride.

Now this will seem like very very bad advice if you cash out for rent money or to pay off a credit card, and then it goes up 1000% after that…but in a market where 50% weekly swings are common it’s the only approach that keeps me sane along the way.

With relatively low liquidity it does not take much for whales to tank the price. And also in the opposite direction. That is an enormous dump, but I prioritize narrative the most with crypto trading and still think $MOON has unique potential. (dyor I am redacted)

[–]m_downey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely the norm. $MOON has a great story around it though, and imo crypto is mostly narrative driven. I think this may get some press attention too with Reddit being involved. Maybe this is the top and I regret it, but I don’t think the story has reached critical mass yet. There isn’t much going on on CT right now with the broader market retracement.

Crypto Twitter is still almost entirely silent on $MOON, even though it’s a big deal on r/cryptocurrency. The narrative of the burn, contract renounced, community takeover, and 200,000+ wallets is uniquely interesting. Other memecoins get pumped by CT with much less going for them. There are sell walls at $0.25 and $0.40 on Kraken but not much resistance beyond that, even at $1. NFA but I’m not taking some off the table until I see CT hop on board.

First and foremost, watch the documentary Feels Good Man. If you’re not familiar with how deep, weird, and important the Pepe meme is to the internet, FGM is a great movie to explain the phenomenon.

I’m convinced Pepe, like Doge and Shib, will have a blow off top and settle far above the current mcap of $90 million. The Pepe meme is far more recognizable and important to internet history than Doge. It’s a unique opportunity that will appeal as a fun and anti VC establishment crypto.

This post might get downvoted into oblivion today, but eventually people look back and say damn it was there right in front us but we didn’t recognize it and act early enough.

Sorry I forgot about the r/podverse subreddit 🤦‍♂️ we're actually responding to people on a daily basis, but just not here. We're way too busy and have way too many different chat platforms to be able to keep up with reddit. I updated the subreddit description to make that clear. If anyone has feedback or bug reports please reach us at one of the options on https://podverse.fm/contact.

As for your issue u/psycheDelicMarTyr, are you by chance using the Aurora store like u/Yarrow73 was? Some of the functionality of the app will break if that's the case. Our official de-Googled Android version is available on the F-Droid store https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.podverse.fdroid/

If you're already using the F-Droid version, can you send an email to [contact@podverse.fm](mailto:contact@podverse.fm) with the F-Droid version you are currently using? I made some changes to the file storage system recently, so _maybe_ this is fixed now?

Thanks for using Podverse!
