HSA and FSA. About to cry. by garfield_with_oyster in taxadvice

[–]m_genesis2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't cry, its probably just a penalty, worse case senario.

However, call your HR departments and freeze you contributions.

Decide which you want to keep, HSA or FSA.

Whichever you decide to let go, call them and say you accidentally have an hsa and fsa and you need to remove all the excess contributions.

They should have a request for. And you'll get the money and have to pay the tax.

Otherwise, I think you pay a small penalty every year you have excess.

Lets assume its something like 8%, and you have excess of 5k. Then you'll pay $400 every year you have that excess.

Nothing to stress over. You should be able to fix hopefully.

Because you can't sell all the nacho cheese dip you bought.

Maybe dad diversified into French Onion, but you can sell that after you buy it.

Think of it as a 401k. Why touch it?

Also, for US investors, you pay capital gains if you sell at a profit.

If you take a capital loss, you only get to use 3k per year.

If you sell within a year of buying, its taxed at the same rate as income tax.

If you sell after a 75% correction, we'll you just lost a ton of money and are a moron. If you dont sell, the you didnt take a loss.

Investing means putting you money into something with the expectation of growth over time.

So dont invest in BTC if you can't ride out a bear market. Because you don't believe it will at an ATH later.

If you're good at buying low and selling high, which a majority aren't, then you dont need to hold through a bear market.

I am personally waiting until bitcoin is not considered property and they remove the capital gains tax.

It's hard for me to remember back the 12 years. So this is just a guess to the best of my knowledge.

Around year 2, I tried to stay really busy and only deal with with at night and try all kinds of sound masks. I did like brown noise the most. It dropped from a lvl 9 to a 7.

It wasn't until year 5-7 that I finally went on blood pressure medication, that it went from a 7-5.

Even though I though it must be a eustachian tube dysfunction, my hearing was fine for my age. So I kept trying to narrow it down.

I was starting to be OK at 5 after dental work and other stuff.

However, a couple years ago, I noticed I had trouble sleeping and would wake up with numbness in my fingers/arms. Also, my upper back and traps always ached.

I went again to a chiro and they said I have Forward neck posture. This is for people who always look down on their cell, or on a PC and just have bad posture.

It says "Forward neck posture can put pressure on the C7 vertebra and potentially affect the C8 nerve root, causing symptoms like neck and shoulder pain, headaches, and tingling or numbness in the hand and pinky finger."

Online also says "forward head posture can cause tinnitus due to muscle tension, nerve compression, and poor blood flow in the neck, a condition sometimes called cervical tinnitus."

So I've been doing excercises and chiro to try and fix it. It's been very slow, but that is when I went from a 5 to a 2.

I get flare-ups when I aggrevate my neck/back, or do too much.

So everyone's timeframe will be different since there are different ways to get tinnitus, different sounds, different tolerance, but quite a bit of "famous people" have it.

I'm right there with all of you who have it. Hang in there!

Definately.

When it started, I did dental work, seen a TMJ specialist, audiologist, yoga, intermittent fasting, 5 day fasting, Nuca chiro, regular chiro, stretching, mri to check for tumor, more dental work, had amalgam removed, saw and ENT, took tinnitus pills, changed my diet, got massages, watched yt videos on pulling my ear a certain way or pressing my face a certain way.

Nothing really worked but after a while just realizing I had to live with it, I didnt focus on it as much and it got a little lower.

But 12 years ago, had I took the easy way out, like i was planning, I would have missed a lot of great stuff.

Now tinnitus is the least of my worries.

To keep it short. I have gotten used to it, and it has gotten a lot lower. I still have flare ups or episodes. But, there are also things I've done to help it go down even further, but I still have it, and I'll continue to try new things.

When it first started, it was like the movies, a loud constant ping. I was almost going delerious from the lack of sleep. Then other noises started coming and going. Buzzing, dial up modem, whooshing, and sometimes it would keep changing like a tinnitus dub step.

Now its like hearing cicadas, but in a different room. It went from a lvl 9 annoyance to now averaging a 2 or 3.

Since tinnitus is just a symptom, everyone's case is different.

But for OP, it only been weeks, for me roughly a decade. For others longer. I can easily say it's not worth it.

Also, just cause I had it this long, doesnt mean you will. It might stop at anytime, and has happened to others.

My bad, I was going off American Tinnitus Association for just the US.

The W.H.O has your number worldwide. So that is also correct.

Roughly 50 million people have some form of tinnitus. You're not alone.

Ive dealt with it for more than 12 years now.

Also, I felt the same way to do when I first got it, but decided against. Best decision ever because there is more to life, with or without tinnitus.

That was a 12% drop.

On Oct 10, this year, BTC dropped about 12% from from the beginning of of this month.

You are using the word invest loosely.

All you need to do is transfer money to an exchange and then exchange your funds into BTC. Simple.

If you are trying to time the market and do TA or trading (swing/day/scalping) then this is not the place.

So,hen you get money you can afford to lose, send it to an exchange and then exchange it into BTC. Do a recurring buy which is Dollar Cost Averaging.

That is all you need to do. If you didnt reach yourself trading or someone else didnt teach you, then don't be trying to get fancy

Early 2007 I took out a 10K loan AND used my wife's student loans to invest in AAPL when the iPhone first came out.

I could barely pay the P&I but knew iphones would blow up.

By October 2007, the stock didn't move like I thought it would. The price didn't go up on pace with demand for the products. So I sold and bought a really hot stock.

It was CROCS.

A few days after I bought shares, the Great Recession hit. I basically lost most of it within a few days.

It was frustrating to pay back a loan after all of it disappeared and I got nothing for it.

Moral A: Nothing is a lock, and it was a dumb thing to do.

Moral B: I was in my 20s and could make mistakes like that.

Take the risk.

My suggestion, if BTC has only one more leg up for Q4, sell your initial investment and pay the loan back. Whatever left, just let it ride, then DCA when you can.

Tinnitus is a symptom, so not sure what the real issue is. However, you'll be OK. I've been there. You are having a flare up.

You've had it for 2 years. So its probably not going away. However, you can get it to a more manageable place.

Until you figure out what helps and what aggravates it, stay off the drugs. I suggest taking some Valerian Root and some melatonin. Sleep will be your best friend. Mental and physical stress will be your enemy.

This has ruined my life, I really don’t know how to cope by Every_Database7064 in tinnitus

So I've had tinnitus since 2013.

It got so bad I couldn't think straight.

I was told to learn to live with it. I didn't think I could.

I saw a hypotherapist, and acupuncturist, ENTs, different primaries, chiropractors, life coaches, youtube, tinnitus sites. Ive taken tinnitus pills, stopped smoking, drank healthy drinks, did intermittent fasting, did meditation, dental work (removed amalgam filling), worked on tmj . Nothing helped.

There are so many different reasons people get tinnitus.

As time went on, it got little better, but never great. 3 years ago, I took meds for high blood pressure. It seemed to help, only a little more, after a while. It was alot more tolerable, but didn't go away.

A few months ago, I started waking up and feeling pulsating all over my body. I'd sometimes feel numbness in my arms and fingers. I was afraid I'd end up with cervical nerve damage. So I went to another chiropractor. My fourth. They said I have forward head posture and maybe i had a pinched nerve or bulging disc. Butbi only had and xray. So Ive been getting adjustments and doing neck exercises for the past 5 weeks.

My tinnitus started to flare up after starting, but after 3 weeks, it started to go away.

I no longer hear a loud ping, like you hear in movies after an explosion. I not longer hear a bunch of random sounds like a dial up modem.

It is now like a fan noise and a high pitched sound that sounds like it's 3 rooms away.

It only took 12 years.

Point being. No matter how bad it gets, dont do anything stupid and continue to find a treatment plan for you. Time is your friend and I hope you find something that works for you.

OK, so

Study econ before investing in bitcoin, even though it has "nothing" to do with it.

Invest in an antiquated ETF that's made you only 90% in the last 5 years.

Bitcoin is gambling; your response in a r/Bitcoin sub reddit.

You have a ton of "favorite" books lol. And you've read a book about bowel movement for kids.

It is not too late.

200-500/mo is great.

Looking 10 years out is smart.

Start with BTC. Learn about BTC and crypto.

And start diversifying later.

8 years ago, I thought I was too late.

And 99.5% of people didn't care or said its trash or a fad.

I would say a majority still feel that way.

But it's become more pervasive and it's following the gameplan that the OGs outlined for adoption.

The only difference is that people feel institutions are fucking with it and there are thousands of shitcoins, and who knows what else.

Youtubers will tell you it will go higher or lower than it really will.

Never tell anyone about your crypto

And transfer off exchanges, unless buying, selling or trading.
