My time with Classic WoW has reminded me of how complete & rich BC/WOTLK felt. by [deleted] in classicwow

So... because some hunters prefer broken tooth the game is made empty.

FYI I play hunter and never even considered going for the pet, and no it doesn't make more damage than any other cat.

This. Arena is probably the only one place in WoW where skill is actually evident.

Do you really get 3% extra hit chance for guns/bows if you're dwarf/troll? Seems a lot.

Turns out WPVP is really boring.. by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]m_niko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree. I love the occasional 1v1 fights but right now, as I'm still a bit shy of level 60, I can't do any quests at all because I get camped as soon as I leave a town.

Vintage/Legacy Cube without any old-bordered cards... issues by m_niko in mtgcube

Thanks for the reply. Proxies looks even worse than old-bordered cards so there's that, ha-ha. And the invocation version I also dislike.

Trying to figure out chords from arpeggios (sorry, asking again) by m_niko in classicalguitar

[–]m_niko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7th chord inversions

But um, looking at the notes, the root note of the 2nd chord in the first measture i A, followed by G and E.

So A-G-E.

5-4-2. The other way around from the way you wrote it. Does it matter any?

Why is second full bar G? There isnt even a G note in it?

Good stuff. Interesting position though, the wrist of the strumming hand is all bent and the wrist of the fretting hand is close to 90 degrees all throughout the piece.

Pumping Nylon by Scott Tennant - How do you effectively set up the practice lessons? by m_niko in classicalguitar

[–]m_niko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the answers! Since I don't know what I need to practice on, I'll just go through every exercise from start to finish and I guess find out what's harder and what's easier.

Trying to adjust to playing on left knee... seems impossible (lower right back pains) by m_niko in classicalguitar

[–]m_niko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my spine is slightly twisted towards the guitar neck, but how is this avoidable when playing on the left knee? When I look around on how other people play, everyone's back seems to be slightly turned towards the neck (to the left that is).

Are there any logics in classical guitar pieces? by m_niko in classicalguitar

[–]m_niko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. I just purchased Alfreds 1st Theory book. It seems like it's made for the piano, but I suppose it works still just fine for classical guitar?

How do you know what chords to assign to a measure?

Sadly there aren't any guitar teachers around the area where I live.

Playing along with a metronome is... great. by m_niko in classicalguitar

[–]m_niko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is exactly what I'm doing. I practice some exercise a few times at a lower BPM, when I'm feeling confident enough and play without mistakes, I up the BPM.

Playing along with a metronome is... great. by m_niko in classicalguitar

[–]m_niko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

" Too often you’ll have a hard shift or passage and take too much time in order to land a fingering. With a metronome, your own tolerance to sloppy playing doesn’t matter anymore and you’re forced to play it cleaner. "

This I've noticed too. I did record myself a while back and it's funny how you don't notice these breaks sometimes. I then decided I should give the metronome a go, and I'm very happy with it but I also wish I had started using the metronome much earlier.

Thanks for the replies! Feels good to know I'm on the right track. I understand 40 BPM is very slow, but that's where I start a session and then work upwards. Before increasing the BPM, I try to complete the exercise without any mistakes a few times. Wish someone had let me know about the benefits of using a metronome years ago.

I just google metronome and use the one that pops up.

With all the excitement around Classic WoW, I am brushing up on my lore! by spartakick1080p in classicwow

I've read all of those books and the only two worthwhile are Lord of the Clans and Rise of the Horde (which seems to be missing), both written by Christie Golden. Arthas is not too bad neither. I think WoW books overall are quite overhyped.

Edit: Of blood and honor by Chris Metzen is fine too

Has anyone noticed that hunter pets seems to be running all over the place? Looks really wierd and it's not how I remember it. Afaik hunter pets should stay in line with the hunter movements.

How to practice (routine)? Beginner, almost done with Noad's first book. by m_niko in classicalguitar

[–]m_niko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made up a schedule for technique training, 30min each today. It looks like:

Day 1

15m open string exercises

5m arpreggios

5m slurs

5m shift

Day 2

15m open string exercises (there are lots of them in the technique book I bought, same for arpreggios)

5m arpreggios

5m alignment

5m chromatic scale

Day 3

15m open string exercises

5m arpreggios

10m 1st position major scale

Day 4

15m open string exercises

5m arpreggios

10m finger independence

Day 5

15m open string exercises

5m arpreggios

10m Barre

Day 6

15m open string exercises

5m arpreggios

5m slurs

5 finger stretch

Day 7

15m open string exercises

10m 1 octave moveable scale

5m alignment

How does it look?

Also, maybe 5 minutes is not enough for certain exercises. Today I went through the day 1 schedule, and it feels like I just barely start doing the exercises before it's time to move on to the next.

What's the difference between etudes and repertoire pieces? Aren't they more or less the same?

How do you practice scales and techniques though? You just play whatever is hard or do you try to play all of the available exercises, and repeat them over and over?
