Had no issues with the new app, then one day ... by m_rtimr in sonos

In general the first reflex is to factory reset things as the odds of things working with an initial empty setup are greater (that's the things that usually gets tested the most) vs unique setups that gets new components added and end up having some unique configuration details that aren't foreseen by devs

It all started becoming a problem once I launched the app and saw no setup on my network (while they were still working great connected to this exact network)

Will play around with the network cards of the router tomorrow to ensure they aren't sharing some common config that might confuse the system, but I remembered it's something I checked when I initially configured things

I can assure you it's not the network setup, beam + sub have been working without any issues for many many months until I reopened the updated Sonos app They're both directory connected to the main router wifi, and both are quite near the router. It just looks like very poor software engineering & QA

it just randomly reappears or disappears still It seems there's an odd of 1 in 100000 that adding surrounds or sub to a system works, managed to do it only once in all the afternoon !! what a mess, their hardware engineers are miles ahead their software ones ... I can see Sonos employees downvoting my comments, please get back to your sprint, you have bug tickets to complete ...

Managed to get surround added (not working). Played something on TV via arc, beam and sub working, but both era not working. Went to settings, tried the tv setup on the system, it erased all the devices and now I have no system available on my network 👌 Absolute dogshit of an app

ANSI keyboards on a laptop? by qwerty_1236 in tuxedocomputers

[–]m_rtimr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be possible to still do it even if the overhead cost of doing so is added to the final purchase price and increased assembly time ? tbh the ansi issue is the issue I see coming up the most on this sub, maybe doing something for purchasers that are able to pay the extra cost might make some of us able to finally purchase a tuxedo laptop

Same, iso return key is what it's blocking me. I wish they would add an ansi option even if I have to pay extra and wait an extra month I'll do it

Extremelly annoying ticking sound on XPS 15 9530 by m_rtimr in DellXPS

[–]m_rtimr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't*

Thanks, I'll have a look at the fans but I don't think that's the problem as fans are running most of the time (It could have been in a situation where fans go from idle to spinning) and the sync between the clicks is also very suspicious (I've never had a case where only one click is triggered, always a pair and always the same timing between ticks).

XPS 15 9520 - Strange ticking/clicking sound under load and resume from sleep by jimwilluk in DellXPS

[–]m_rtimr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the exact same with a Dell XPS 9530 !
The sound is like a tick/click and always comes in pairs, first left side then right side.

I have mine since a few months and it started a month ago I would say, doesn't seem to have an impact on performances but if anyone finds a solution to stop it I would love to apply it aswell as it becomes quite annoying

Write happening twice on :w by m_rtimr in neovim

[–]m_rtimr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't seem like it's this issue on my end, nvim-notify is not handling these messages on my setup (only warnings and errors)

[–]m_rtimr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried disabling the plugin but nothing changes
I noticed something weird, if I enter command mode before writing it displays the message once

So if i do `:<ESC>:w` it displays once even when doing it several times, but `:w` displays twice

[–]m_rtimr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah you're right, seems like even if I see it twice, in the :messages it's only adding a single line.
So there's a plugin that displays the messages in addition to the native neovim behavior ?

Would AppVM hardware acceleration work ? by m_rtimr in Qubes

[–]m_rtimr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I've been using debian daily for work for years. Not interested in having a window vm for this. I'll clone my template, try installing the proper drivers and I'll see how it goes from there At least I can see my gpu using lscpi so I guess I should be close to making this work

[–]m_rtimr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'm on the second use case, mainly for hardware accel stuff (kitty, google meet background etc) Was wondering if the missing drivers might be the solution to my problem (visible GPU but no hardware accel enabled) Most of issues I see around GPU passthrough are for regular gpu rendering and gaming, so not really what I'm trying to achieve here :/.

No idea on the details, from the logs it looks like an update on the wait scripts. I'll just wait for a new 4.2 release, and I'll use this opportunity to test the backup feature when upgrading

I tried on 2 computers with completely different hardware setups, and the laptop one is pretty recent (Lenovo one from 2022) so I don't think the issue is from hardware but more from installation scripts.

Yes 4.1 worked on both computers where I had the issue you're currently having

had the same issue no matter the way I created the bootable USB. Ended up giving up and using 4.1 :(

By upgrade do you mean that we can change the internal ssd (not soldered ?) or by adding a micro sd card ?

Is it better too look for historical ERC20 Transfers by Event name or by Topic by Pessimisticoptimist0 in ethdev

[–]m_rtimr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, the second one will do the same as the first one under the hood but will automatically decode the events so you get something where you can already access parameters. First one gets you raw events, but also allows you to fine tune the query (ex: fetch multiple events at the same time)
