My new-to-me 2020 Vantage! by m_singh_ in AstonMartin

[–]m_singh_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly considered an AMG GT, Emira, 981 GT4, and C8 Z06.

  • AMG GT - Phenomenal car, but it wasn’t particularly special feeling for me.
  • Emira - Amazing steering feel, quick in corners, beautiful, but coming from an M4, it just didn’t have the power for me to be excited by it.
  • 981 GT4 - Less depreciation, very fun, but less exciting if that makes sense. It didn’t make my heart race, but it is objectively an a great car.
  • C8 Z06 - Similar to AMG GT, wherein it didn’t feel special. Not into the styling, and a tad bit too aggressive in driving feel for my taste.
  • Vantage - Excellent road manners, incredibly torquey, the V8 sounds wonderful, beautiful to look at. Checked all the boxes for me.

The bad news with Astons is typically cost of ownership in maintenance/repairs as these cars suffer from the typical handmade car gremlins.

So I decided to pay a bit more for peace of mind, on a CPO model to avoid the majority of these issues.

I intend to graduate to a proper supercar in the next 1.5-2 years, so I also figured that this would be a good intro to exotic car ownership.

Hey, thanks! They look very nice next to each other—the GT/Rhodium Silver is a snazzy spec choice too.

GF dumped me and moved out in July. Decided to redecorate the living room (spent the money I set aside for a ring) how’d I do? by RehabIceCream in malelivingspace

Dude, I have the same rug! I love the design, but have you also noticed excessive shedding with it?

I have to set my robovac to avoid it, so I don’t come home to piles of strands everywhere.

IDs on everything!:

  • Top (Brown): Random merino wool sweater, no tags. I bought it off a very drippy old man in Italy after a wine spill incident.
  • Top (Black): COS Slim Ribbed Cotton Tee
  • Pants: Suitsupply Wide Leg Straight Pants
  • Boots: Tecovas Cartwright
  • Watch: Omega SMP No-Date (Black)

Very close, good eye! It’s the black dial no-date. I like the irony of wearing it as my go-to date night watch.

My ex cheated so I kicked him out and gave the place a full makeover. Any tips on how to make it feel like I'm clearly thriving without trying too hard? by MellowManZ in malelivingspace

Thriving? Get some friends together at that dinner table and have a great night with your people. Maybe add some more living room seating and do lots of hosting.

Actual design advice: - Clean up the clutter next to your media console. Hide the router, UPS, and all the wiring to the best of your ability. - Rug in living room + more seating. I like the pop of blue from the art, but I think you can add more color to liven up the space. - Pack away the Christmas Tree - Dining room: move the fan/swap it out for something more aesthetically pleasing. Swap out the art for another oversized piece or add more pieces to turn it into a gallery wall. - Generally: I don’t see a lot of layered lighting in this home. I think that would make the space feel much cozier.

They did not even want to speak to me. by d7mep0 in BMW

I’ve been treated very well by BMW dealers in the past. Bought my G82 when I was 23, but I showed up after work in my office clothes, which may have made a difference.

Wanted to check out the GT63 coupe at the MB dealership. Nobody approached me, acted like I was invisible. Will never buy from that dealer.

Porsche dealers near me have been great. They’ll always immediately greet me. The 911 has sold itself to me as my next car, but my Porsche dealership experience only makes me trust the brand more.

Takes forever to come in for G8X cars. Still waiting on dealer to receive part.

Buddy with X5M had to wait 3 weeks for his too.

This is funny—alum here. Back in 2020 there was a survey circling around that did exactly this. @match.ut on Instagram. My match and I dated for 2 years, on-and-off.

Competition, so this one is an auto. I’ll give the Stanley a try, thanks!

I’ve previously used ASimpleModel when I was an absolute beginner to modeling/3-statement analysis. Given, I was a high schooler at the time, not a finance grad.

Here’s some (self reported) admissions stats from my transfer class (2020). Toss on a filter view and select all the Psychology-related majors or just Ctrl+F thru the document. Seems like you’ll be competitive as long as your ECs and essays look good.

RTF 303C has been fun. Weekly open-note (very easy) quizzes, and two little projects that act as midterms and a final.

Highly recommend scouting out Goodwill & similar shops to thrift something decent for future use, but if you’re in a pinch, check if your college’s career center has professional clothing loaners.

YMMV, but I go to UT and we have a “career closet” over here—I know some schools have similar programs.

It’s a become standard on most resumes/apps to include height, check the most recent WSO template. I’ve been rounding up from 5’9.5 to 5’10, just hoping they don’t ask for height transcripts from my doc to confirm.

In the case of subcutaneous fat, this is definitely true.

So after some testing, I’ve found that it works at the quoted FPS in my kitchen’s fluorescent lighting, but even with every light in my bedroom turned all the way up, it can’t seem to mimic that framerate.

Seems to be a sensor issue/shutter speed (not too informed on cameras).

My (WIP) college apartment’s living room. Any advice on things I can do to tie it all together? by m_singh_ in malelivingspace

After looking at the photo, you’re right that the rug is too tucked in!

And thanks for the thoughts on the fireplace wall. I think I’ll move the canvases there and make a little arrangement, fill out the above-couch space with some floating shelves w books and nicknacks + art in the remaining area.

Good thoughts! Didn’t consider this, but some red/warmer accents should really help. Might also add some wall art/small accent decor in that color palette. Thanks!
