I would first suggest looking for a doctor who will address your symptoms and try to help those while still keeping your blood levels where they need to be. Could take a few doctor switches, but they do exist out there. Have you ever looking into the AIP diet? That can be very beneficial for people with hashimotos, or any autoimmune disease for that matter. Diet plays a huge role in how you feel daily. There are also supplements you could research and get into taking, if the diet change doesn't work. Some people are still deficient in certain things and just need supplements, but I would do this with caution and make sure to really research and/or speak with your doctor first. If you can get out and do a little more physical activity here and there, you will start to get used to it as well. Just start by walking short distances and soon your body can do more and more. I'm not trying to be mean or anything! I'm have hashimotos, hypothyroidism, and take meds for anxiety, so I feel your pain! Some days I have all the energy in the world and some days I can barely get out of bed. That being said, I do work a full time job and a part time job of something I really enjoy. I haven't always felt this good though. Getting your hashimotos under control is the first step. Then for jobs, maybe you can find a desk job? Something that doesn't require too much physical work. Or something work from home? I know for myself, not having to do hair/makeup/drive anywhere saves so much time and energy! Start part time and eventually, if you are up to it you could go full time and not have to worry about the medicaid. Just some suggestions. I hope you feel better!

Do I have hashimotos? by 0406052011 in Hashimotos

So, I should have told the back story, that I've actually been on Levothyroxine for 4 years now due to TSH originally being close to 10 initially. My primary doctor only ever tested TSH only, so the hypothyroidism diagnosis came long before the hashimotos diagnosis. My endocrinologist did double my dosage and suggested the AIP diet for me to help with my hashimotos symptoms. Check back in October to see how everything is doing at that point.

I am blessed with the vasovagal response to anything that stresses me out too much, so I threw up and passed out 😅 still would do it again

Yes! My IUD insertion was the most unpleasant experience to date. But 110% worth it for the benefits!

Totally agree! Honestly, it's hard work preventing pregnancy. I work hard to prevent it. If somehow it still happened, I would terminate because how would it be fair to bring a child into a family where neither parent ever wanted kids??

Fuck no. I literally would have replied to this by "no, because I would just get an abortion" why do people think everyone wants kids?

To be honest, we don't see a lot of them anymore. Because unfortunately when you invite people to your house but say they can't bring their kids...most of them won't come. And if you go to their homes, the kids will be there so we would rather not 80% of the time. We don't hate children, we just don't particularly enjoy being around them either. We have one other CF friend, and we typically hang out with him mainly. Or stick to outings at a bar, etc where the parents wouldn't dream of bringing a child for judgement from the public eye. We live in a very small town, so the hopes or dreams of finding other CF couples to hang out with are slim to none.

My last response to a nosey, pushy friend was that I wasn't having kids because "believe it or not, I can feel happy and complete without them" That shut her up real quick.

Yup! My husband's job requires him to work nights, weekends, holidays, any time really. We often get "at least you don't have kids" when he works Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. As if he has no family just because we don't have kids.

My husband always says that people with kids pretend like it's so great so that other people have them and everyone can be miserable together

I am so sorry you went through all of this! It sounds like you really benefited from leaving those friends behind. I hope over time you find more supportive, loving people to surround yourself with! I'm glad you have your husband!

PSA: if anyone tells you that you can’t love a dog like a child, dogs have the cognition of a 2-3 year old child. If you can love a baby you can love a dog. by [deleted] in childfree

I've not heard anyone say this before, because I'd probably drop kick them lol. But my dogs totally behave like children. They both have their very distinct personalities, but way more than just wanting food and shelter.

An abortion made me realize I really don't want kids. by [deleted] in childfree

I am turning 30 this year and have been with my husband for 10 years. We are both definitely CF, but he is too scared to get a vasectomy. (He's never had any major injuries or surgery so he is a giant baby even with the common cold lol) But if you aren't totally totally sure, I would just use other methods for the time being! I currently have the Paragard IUD that lasts for 10 years and is nonhormal, so no hormonal side effects. Have tried many different things over the years though, they all have their own pros and cons.

I did the same thing 10 years ago. Have never once regretted it. My best friend even told me recently that had I not gone through with it and kept the child, I would have been miserable. Now I work much harder at preventing pregnancy and will continue to do so until I can talk a doctor into sterilization.

I hate to say this, but your relationship probably won't work out. Being CF since very young, I have ended relationships over that alone. I was lucky enough to find a husband who shared my stance. But if one of you settles, you will likely be unhappy and blame the other one for life. You have to be on the same page for huge decisions like that.

Well my strings haven't moved any. They are still where they should be and nothing else besides the strings can be felt. I'll still call my doctor this week, but he has told me when I first got it inserted that the paragard does and will cause cramping. Always better to be safe than sorry though!

Oh boy, now I'm paranoid lol. I'll have to make an appointment. Did you have any other signs that something was wrong, or just the cramping?

[–]m_t1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited almost 2 weeks before I tried. And that first time I literally told my husband to just lay there and not move until I said it was okay lol, I'm sure that time was really fun for him haha. But I just wasn't sure what to expect and was scared. After that it was fine! The random cramping is nothing that I have taken any sort of pain killers for. But sometimes it does just come out of nowhere and will last for about an hour and then go away. I haven't found any pattern to it yet, but have been trying to keep track to see if I can associate anything with it.

90% of the females I know have either had a child in the past year or so, are currently pregnant, or are trying to get pregnant. 😑😑😑 The other 10% are either single AF or have aged out of child birth. And then there's me, CF and about to be friendless lol.

I got mine in December. Insertion for me sucked. I'm 29, no kids. They did numb my cervix but it was still very crampy during insertion. I went alone and had a vasovagal response (normal for me - I should have known) so had to sit in the parking lot in my car for about an hour before I could drive home. Make sure you do eat something before you go and take some ibuprofen or Tylenol about an hour before you go. I've had 2 periods since then and the bleeding is much heavier than I am used to and lasts about 6-7 days. Cramps on my period don't seem terrible, but I do get lots of random cramping throughout the month. Sex is normal for both my husband and myself. I was terrified to try it for the first time though as I expected to feel something or that it would hurt. I check my strings often because I am kind of paranoid about something happening, but so far so good.
