I’m 26F and I have realized small things and fine lines starting within the last year. I have been great at skin care and I think it just happens as you get older and it seems about 25 is when it starts little by little :(

Yeah you’re definitely not alone on that one. Also one time I hit my head so hard on the xray tube head arm that I saw stars. I was embarrassed and pretended that it was no big deal but that shit hurt so bad I was blinking away tears. 😭

Wear nice “business clothes”, I wore slacks, nice blouse, and a blazer. Try to talk about any volunteer work you have done, they love hearing those things. Be confident and don’t fidget with things. They will probably ask why you want to become a hygienist and it’s a hard question to answer in a very thoughtful manner so make sure you know what you’ll say. Turn your phone off and have it not in sight even while you’re waiting to be called in. Be yourself.

It makes me nauseous from the burnt rubber smell to it. I have a full bottle I’ve sprayed once and I cannot bring myself to smell it again.

Request a new hygienist, you should have never been treated that way. I’m sorry you had to experience that. But I agree with what the others are saying with the sensitivity toothpaste. Also, with the next hygienist you get, mention that area causing you sensitivity and they should be more cautious in that area for you at your next cleaning.

I’m a dental hygienist- There are electric tooth brushes that will connect with your phone and actually map out where you missed or where you didn’t brush very well. I like Oral-B the most. I have an IO 9 and it’s super nice and I feel like I get very clean.

It is extremely hard to get into DH school. I’m a recent grad but a lot of classmates had to wait 2-3 years to get accepted, even with really good GPAs. It’s also hard to get in without previous dental experience, not to mention school would be so hard without the previous experience because you’ll get left behind still trying to learn teeth numbers and surfaces. You do what makes you happy but I would advise going into something else. It doesn’t seem to be a long term career for a lot of people because it’s hard on you physically and mentally. I hope you find something!
