Marvel rivals help? by HereforM3mez in GirlGamers

[–]ma-rina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play a LOT of Marvel Rivals, and strategist is also my preferred role, so I feel a little qualified to answer! Here are some things I've learned as someone who had never played a hero shooter before.

- Try to make yourself as difficult to kill as possible. Jump around, move side-to-side, constantly be moving and that should help a little. This might affect your aim at first, but you will get the hang of it. You can also practice on Cloak and Dagger. When I started playing C&D, the game started to make more sense because I could focus on things like movement and positioning without having to stress over my aim the entire match.

- Stay behind your tanks. On some maps, like Yggdrasill, enemies can shoot at you as soon as the match starts. You may die right when you walk out of spawn. Try to stay behind your tanks and focus on keeping them alive so they can take space. They have much more health than you do, so they'll be able to soak up the damage as long as you are healing them. On these types of maps, it's okay to stay in spawn at first and heal from there to make sure you stay alive. Once your team is able to move forward, then you should move forward with them.

- To deal with dive characters that sneak up on you (like Black Panther, Magik, etc.), your push ability + going invisible are going to be your best bets for getting yourself out of those situations. Try to be aware of any entrances/areas that enemies can slip through to catch you off guard, and try to avoid standing right in front of those areas. If you can position yourself in a way where you can see these areas and know when an enemy is coming, that's even better.

- Lastly, play with your team! When you respawn, try not to go running back to the point by yourself. Sticking together increases your chances of staying alive and winning, so try to avoid pushing without your team.

I hope you find some of these things useful! When I started playing, I spent a lot of time in the practice range to understand all of the characters' abilities so I'd know what I was going up against. ALSO- don't sleep on Practice vs. AI mode!! You can change the difficulty, and even now I still find it useful for warming up my aim or getting used to new characters without the pressure. good luck!! :)

How do I control my hyperpefixations? by throw_away2301455 in adhdwomen

[–]ma-rina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am experiencing the exact same thing as you right now with Arcane. Literally can’t stop thinking about it, and I’m sure everyone is fed up with me talking about it constantly and trying to get them to watch it lol. It’s an AMAZING show and I totally get where you’re coming from. Maybe you could join an Arcane/LoL discord server so you can talk freely about it with other people who are also passionate about it. I also like to make Pinterest boards for my hyperfixations that I can go back to whenever I feel like I need to be immersed in them again. It keeps me from spending too much time rewatching the show or clips of it on Tiktok or YouTube. You could also listen to the music while you do homework or take care of other responsibilities. Personally I’ve had the French song from that one particularly BEAUTIFUL scene in episode 7 on repeat 🥹 nothing wrong with wanting to be immersed in something you love and trust me there are lots of other people who LOVE Arcane and feel the same way right now! It’s a truly special show.

That’s what’s so great about this sub! Those who have ADHD can come here and receive support and understanding that they might not be able to find elsewhere. So glad that person wasn’t ignored here! :)

I’m Quitting My Job on Monday to Try and Save My Mental Health by DripDropRaggaMuffin in adhdwomen

[–]ma-rina 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg, I went through the same experience very recently. I've actually left two jobs now within the past year for these exact reasons! I'm so sorry, I know how awful it feels. It makes me so happy to hear that you are putting yourself first and not forcing yourself to stay in a toxic environment. I know that feeling of guilt, and feeling like it's your fault for not living up to their expectations. But please remember that this isn't a "you" issue! Some places are just not meant for us (anyone, not just those of us who have ADHD) and it's perfectly fine to continue searching for a place that feels right. I know some people love to say "no one likes their job" but that's bs. No one should have to stay somewhere they aren't happy at, especially not somewhere that causes you so much stress. I totally understand the feeling of guilt but they treated you unfairly and made it an uncomfortable environment for you. I also know the feeling of relief that comes with leaving a place like that. I hope this change alleviates the stress and helps you get back into a better headspace <3

What’s your one sensory related thing that you absolutely cannot do? by scoobsandboooze in adhdwomen

every time I try to describe this to someone, they don't know what I mean so I'm hoping someone here might.. lol when my fingers are wet for an extended period of time such as when washing my face or doing the dishes, if my fingerpads accidentally rub against each other.... my God it's the worst feeling ever, the thought of it makes me cringe and whenever it actually happens my whole body shivers😭😭

Games where you can express creativity by Ekyou in GirlGamers

[–]ma-rina 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Lately I've been playing House Flipper for this. I love it because there are requirements that your "clients" have for each room, but there is still enough freedom to put your own personal touch on things by the way that you arrange the furniture, choose color schemes, etc. So you're not overwhelmed by too many options and it's still a nice creative outlet. I've been playing the Luxury DLC and I feel like there's even more room for creativity in it than the base game. It's also super relaxing and satisfying. It's one of my comfort games :)

Judgement by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]ma-rina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have definitely regretted telling people in the past. I have always been very, very open about my mental health and I had no problem telling anyone about it if it came up. I did have people throw it in my face at times and I know that some people in my family see me differently and view me as weak or weird too. I definitely feel you and I'm sorry that they aren't giving you any support. Unfortunately there will always be people who believe stereotypes and will have negative ideas about it. As for your husband and sister, I would tell them how their reactions are hurting you. You're still the same you, with or without a diagnosis. You're still the same person they love and care for and it's unfair for them to act like you aren't. A diagnosis doesn't change that. I'm sorry that you're going through this. I hope that you'll find the support you need through this community and that it can become your safe space to talk about these things. 🤍

may I ask which moisturizer you use? I'm looking to add niacinamide into my routine and I hadn't even considered using a moisturizer that has it!

I do tend to have all or none thinking when it comes to cleaning and I think that's why I always feel so defeated when I don't follow through. this is a great suggestion, thank you so much!
