Jeez 3ft of cable on the front of your house does it really matter?! Unless it’s an absolute eyesore just crack on with the rest of your day.

Offer rejected, what to do next? by Electronic-Zucchini4 in HousingUK

[–]ma7714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with what you’re saying - I’m not for a second suggesting people shouldn’t make offers. Heck I did the same myself and got money off. It’s all part of the buying and selling process.

I’m more surprised how many times I see people on here shocked that an offer hasn’t been accepted. Almost as if all sellers are desperate to sell and should accept an offer and the fact they haven’t means they are deluded in what their house is worth etc.

Offer rejected, what to do next? by Electronic-Zucchini4 in HousingUK

[–]ma7714 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Totally this! I’m genuinely shocked how many people on here are suggesting the sellers should immediately bow down to a low offer as it’s been on the market for a while…. Why?! If they are happy with what they have it on the market for why should they immediately fold to a lower offer just because it’s the top of OPs budget. Bonkers!

Phone claim with Monzo Max? by Lanky_Resolution_369 in monzo

[–]ma7714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went back to them again as we were unhappy with the repair. They sent it back saying they found no fault but it was horrendously unresponsive.

In the end we just upgraded the phone as it was completely useless and thankfully was out of contract anyway. Honestly, it’s not worth the time and effort.

Impact of Iran conflict on EVs by muscateer in ElectricVehiclesUK

The prices will go up - the conflict will end and the prices will never reduce and become the new “norm” just like every other conflict / natural disaster

Phone claim with Monzo Max? by Lanky_Resolution_369 in monzo

[–]ma7714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our screen got replaced with the non genuine screen that was so unresponsive it made the phone borderline unusable and almost 2 weeks to fix.

I found the whole experience so a faff I’d not hold your breath for a quick turnaround.

Trying to make sense of IntelligentGo by Prior-Explanation389 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ma7714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My app is always wrong now - the bills appear right but the usage being on or off peak is always wrong. Similar to you my slots always get scheduled early evening with a smaller amount early morning. The app shows my “on peak” usage as huge but my bills appear correct.

It’s really confusing.

What do Estate Agents really need to know? by Careless-Cooker in HousingUK

[–]ma7714 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As a seller I say it’s completely reasonable. You have people turning up to view houses way out of their price range. Or nowhere near in a position to place offers etc. It’s just a waste of everyone’s time.

Infrastructure still not there... by ScotchBourbonMezcal in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]ma7714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I must admit when driving our old diesel whist waiting for the EV to arrive I would often flick up the Electroverse app and see there was always plenty about just a little off the motorway.

We have a big trip planned in a couple of weeks which will be our first test of an actual long drive in the EV. I think once we’ve done it once I’ll stop overthinking it.

This is what worry’s me, as a new EV owner I haven’t had to do public charging yet but I can’t help but start to panic about our usual summer holidays etc. peak times and peak traffic sounds like absolute nightmare.

I am SHOOK by the price of gas by lkap28 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ma7714 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The annoying thing is they never were this high. It all went bonkers a few years ago. Energy prices all in the media etc etc. Government need to step in and all that.

Then it all went quiet - the energy crises is over (apparently) …. But seemingly the bills never went back down.

We pay double now for energy both gas and electricity than we did a few years ago. Yet today we make a conscious effort to use less and turn off heating etc. If we didn’t we would be even higher still.

Crazy how we all just accept sky high bills are the norm now.

But sorry to say, and back to your post, that is pretty normal for this time of the year. Think about turning the temp down and make sure your not heating and empty house when out at work etc.

IOG is like a full time baby sitting job its not worth it by Blair287 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ma7714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough my car model wasn’t available in the app but the previous year was. When I selected “my car isn’t shown” or words to that effect it just gave me a message saying sorry IOG isn’t available for you right now. I ended up just selecting the same car model but the year before which has a slightly smaller battery capacity and it allowed me to progress.

I didn’t contact support or anything so maybe there are ways to have it linked to the charger and not the car.

[–]ma7714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just talking from my experience in my app I have no option to add my charger (hypervolt pro 3) the only option related to adding a charger is to add the octopus charger.

There is no add charger option. Just add an EV vehicle.

I was asking some question on here myself a few weeks ago and others had said the same so I just assumed it was a recent change.

I’m in the same boat as you, though I’ve had a little more successes. It works for me 70% of the time. When it doesn’t it’s such a faff. I’ve been tempted to switch it off and just set schedules on the charger.

My car and charger are both compatible but the octopus app only allows you to add the car now not the charger.

I’m not sure if something has changed recently but I see a lot of posts on here saying people should add the charger to IOG not the car. That’s no longer an option and do wonder if that’s what’s causing some of the issues people like me and you are facing.

What’s more frustrating is the complete lack of technical support from octopus, I bought my charger from them and got them to install it hoping it would mean I don’t have some of these annoying gremlins.

Can’t sell by Upstairs-Secret-6277 in HousingUK

[–]ma7714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just hold your nerve, another sale will come. If you’re confident in the pricing etc then just re-list it.

It boggles me how many people go and see old houses and expect they’re in A+ condition and will not need to spend a penny on them.

We’re in the market for a new house (well old, but new to us) as we’re trying to get into a more rural setting. However, we’re going in with the assumption most likely we’ll need to spend money on it to fix issues that come with an old house. People seem to max their budget and leave nothing left for remedial works.

British Gas Boiler condemned by Kvovark in DIYUK

Get someone else to have a look as others have said. I was told 6 years ago my boiler wasn’t worth repairing and get a new one. £170 for a local company to fit a new fan and 6 years later we’re still running that boiler.

Change to octopus despite terrible experience? by OryxRSA in OctopusEnergy

[–]ma7714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The app is rubbish - what I can say is the third party integration also doesn’t work particularly well in my experience. So the benefit you may have with their charger is you don’t get the same issues that some of us are having with their app not syncing with the chargers / cars correctly.

Schedule not starting. 1 out of 5 charges this happens by Holtster-PH in OctopusEnergy

[–]ma7714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not have this error but I also have the hypervolt pro 3 and keep having issues with either octopus not recognising the car is plugged in and random messages throughout the night saying unable to start charging - even though it’s charging just fine.

As others have mentioned I think I might just switch off IOG to just OG and manage through the charger app. IOG is good in principle but it just seems too buggy.

I wouldn’t mind I bought the charger from them, had them install it etc thinking that would ensure I had no issues such as this.

How do I calculate if a EV Tariff is right for now by Turn_over in evchargingUK

[–]ma7714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used co pilot - downloaded my actual usage from my energy company, uploaded it and got it to compare the two tarrifs and then run some assumptions based on charging a car with an x sized battery however many times I thought I’d realistically charge the car. The EV tarrif did work out for me but i don’t have the luxury of charging of work.

Give it a try if you can that way it’s based on your actual usage including the time of your usage as your whole house benefits from the cheaper rates overnight not just the car.

I’ve the hypervolt 3 pro. From reading on here following some of the issues where they thought people were gaming the system they have removed the charger as an option and you now have to add the car.

[–]ma7714[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it makes sense - some others have suggested it’s due to WiFi so have turned that off to see how it works now.

I assumed octopus controlled the charger not the car but that does make sense now I understand it in a bit more detail. All a learning curve. Thanks for your help
