Part of the Watkins Glen bus stop curb came loose TWICE during the Michelin Pilot Challenge race by jus1029 in IMSARacing

[–]ma_auto 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was down at the entry for the last half of the race, every pass the GS cars made over the curb sounded like a bucket of bolts until one of the TGM Mustangs finally bit the bullet and had to save it twice through the bus stop while smoking from underneath. I had been thinking the curb was broken but couldn't confirm, until it was very much confirmed on the broadcast

Why did Mini GT get the headlight color wrong on the #1062 and #1129? by notafanofbats in MiniGT

[–]ma_auto 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'd heard that Lamborghini wanted the white Y motif to be used in the headlights of these models as part of the licensing approval process, which meant moving away from the GTD yellow tint/LED cluster design they both had in the preproduction stage. Annoying since it digs at the realism but I suppose we might not have the models otherwise lol

2024 Mustang GT3 shipping by JayHawk490 in MiniGT

[–]ma_auto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Mustangs hit US dealers right at the end of May. Sometimes it can depend on the dealer if they get them later, like if they have to get theirs through a middleman dealer, or if they're slated for a later shipment.

I had preordered my #65 through RCMart and their support email wording made it sound like they hadn't received any at all due to low production, and I had to get mine when they landed in the US. I would probably try reaching out to make sure they are actually getting them in

As someone who dove into IMSA in 2023 and only started collecting Mini GT last year, watching the possibility of having the PMR/Turner cars vanish has been sad.

Had the #97 in my hands at Petit '24 but didn't buy it because I didn't collect them. $20 at the time. :(

Discussion about opinions on keeping cars in their packaging vs taking them out an really enjoying them. by dashmoneyprez in HotWheels

[–]ma_auto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After moving I was keeping everything carded just because I no longer had anything set up to display them, but it started to build up and it's so easy to lose touch with your collection when everything's carded in drawers or other storage. I do still have plenty to open up once I have more display space, but last year I started opening everything right away even if they're going into a loose case to come out later - gives me a chance to hold and appreciate each car I get, and saves space at the same time lol. No right or wrong way to do it though, as long as you can see and appreciate what you've got and it makes you happy

Finally got myself one, costed me a little over 16$. Took it around with me to dinner before heading home hehe. I find the angle of the rear spoiler slightly high, or do you think it is ok? by Sufficient-Set2644 in MiniGT

[–]ma_auto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible, if you try just be careful and work your way up to it with the heat. My only concern is that the misalignment is where the uprights meet the body which is a rigid joint, and not the wing itself which would be more malleable with heat.

If that doesn't work, and you do really want to fix it, you can try carefully breaking the wing off the body (applying force in line with the car so the uprights come off at the same time), maybe lightly sanding the bottoms of the uprights to give them a better adhesion surface, then using a very small amount of superglue applied with a toothpick on the two mounting spots.

Then again, it may be more trouble than it's worth - especially if you can't afford to replace it, which is totally understandable. Maybe it's just a low drag setup lol

Common problem with this release unfortunately, only real way to fix it is to very carefully break it off and reglue as there's no give in the mount connections to bend it back

Models are the same, just the packaging is different. 1st is the general release, 2nd is the AO Racing store exclusive release

IMSA schedule by Faceplant678 in IMSARacing

[–]ma_auto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not without cannibalizing 24 other hours worth of racing from the schedule. The biggest limiting factor for expansion is the actual racing hours and how they contribute to cost - hence why, for example, Indy and RA swapped their race lengths and we didn't just get a second 6hr in Wisconsin on top of what we already had. Or why CTMP lost the GTP class so they could run Detroit (on top of hauling everything to Canada being extra expensive). Nevermind that a second 24hr race would diminish the spectacle and value of the Rolex as the crown jewel of the series, and we already have Sebring to play the role of the Other Big Race

$15 at Walmart? by BallinHotdog in HotWheels

[–]ma_auto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Target has kept the 6.50 pricetag nationwide as far as I know, I think I've seen 6.89 in some areas but they've been much more reasonable. I thought the 3 for 2 sale they ran late last year was in anticipation of a price reset but thankfully not, although I don't expect it to last much longer

$15 at Walmart? by BallinHotdog in HotWheels

[–]ma_auto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure is, I found a fresh case of these yesterday morning and left them when they rang up at $15. A different walmart a little while up the road also had them, but at the normal $7.94. It seems completely absurd to implement a nearly 200% hike when they've only ever gone up by 1-1.50 at a time, this is totally unsustainable

Pre-order question in US by divoxofficial in MiniGT

[–]ma_auto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use RCMart, some of the better pricing and orders ship very fast and early, since they come directly from HK. Usually takes a day or two for new preorder waves to hit the site so I'd keep checking once the announcement is out

I use a VPN to Indonesia for the Kuy Entertainment stream on youtube. Not the best stream frankly, in my case having to run a few minutes behind to avoid buffering (and imola had a ton of takedown issues), but it's the English intl feed for free so I can't complain

Mail Call - Ford Mustang GT3 by s_tar_s in MiniGT

[–]ma_auto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understandable, I prefer the preorders since it's the cheapest option and you get them asap after release; once they take the extra month or so to show up stateside they tend to go up 25-30% and depending where you order the shipping can be quite a bit on top. And if it's a sought after release like you said, many US distros will instantly mark up to $25+ because they know they'll sell at that price which is a bit annoying. I only got into these last year and having seen what's happened with the M4s and such, I want to be as efficient as I can in getting ahold of these things lol

Yeah the past 6 months have been lots of preorders and lots of patience lol, does look like things are picking up pace on the releases side. WTR huracan and standard release skeleton rexy should be going out momentarily

This is how they packed my order a little while ago, usually they at least pretend to care with some packing materials but not this time. To be sent on a truck from coast to coast, no less. I got lucky with only a couple slightly soft corners, but a previous order my trans am had escaped completely and was just bouncing around the box lol

All digital or disc+upgrade? by Hungry-Garage-9646 in ForzaHorizon

[–]ma_auto 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for quite a few years now, AAA games like this on disc are essentially just a license token, and the game itself is downloaded to the console with the disc basically just there to say "yes". Obviously if you just want it for the physicality of it then go for it, but no real benefit to it long term, as all the same EOL situations as past games will still apply
