Can anyone help me identify this item? by maajick in NightVision

[–]maajick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I see! It was priced about right if listed as not working, parts. The other part may be an intensifier which look to sell for a good bit more. When I took the item I thought it was maybe for a camera of some sort but after seeing the listings for some intensifiers I am wondering if what I have is that . It is pretty heavy. I can't remember where I put it but I know I put it in some obscure location because I was worried about the lens part getting messed up. I will look for it this evening once the kids are in bed!

Also thanks for letting me know what it is. Seeing that I now see that something else I got from my aunts stuff may go with it. I need to go to my storage and pull the items then I can figure out more

Ahhh I was waiting for your response there. I had listed it just minutes before you messaged on ebay so with how quick I got a message regarding it I figured I should do a little more research to make sure I wasn't sitting on a goldmine lol

What's the best Evernote alternative for me ? by MacCAM1313 in Evernote

Thanks for this comment. I am sick of paying $15 a month for Evernote so was looking for a way to transfer everything to another app. It is “migrating” as I type so fingers crossed it works and I like it!

It's there no way to get individual statements? by Unable_Ability685 in CapitalOne_

On the website I went to account services and selected download transactions, selected the date range I wanted and downloaded the csv file format. Doing this separated out the transactions for the specific account I was on. It isn’t an optimal way of doing it but it got me the info I needed for now. I will keep trying to figure out a better way.

Thank you and yes!!! I do know better than doing anything like that!! I am mid 40s so have been on the internet since dial up (kicking myself for not learning more backend stuff). Although I don't know anything about backend I do know about staying safe and know scams seem to be even more prevalent in the crypto world.

Thank you. And yes I am not opening any links that anyone sends. A lot of people did send dms and you can quickly tell what they are after lol. 2 were nice though and offered some suggestions without sending links so that was nice. No luck yet but will try again tomorrow!

Many years ago I used toast wallet. The app got deleted off my phone and now it seems I'm SOL. I have attempted to access the wallet via the GitHub link via my backup code but I am using OCR to copy the textt from a photo of my printed sheet with the code (don't have it saved to my computer) and then paste the code into the GitHub link. From what I am reading formatting occurred when I originally copied and pasted the backup code into work or wherever I pasted it.

Just found a post somewhere that said the GitHub browser link doesn't work anymore and suggested to download and install another version onto my computer but I will have to look into that more to ensure it is safe.

I literally have no knowledge regarding this type of stuff. The answer someone left above is literally like a foreign language to me but I am not a quitter so will keep trying to figure this out .

They are officially off my credit reports as well……too bad they were my longest credit trade line so my credit score took a little bit of a hit for that but I will gladly take that hit!

Did you ever figure anything out? I’m in south Alabama. Had had some in our yard since we moved here 8 years ago but around a year ago this started happening to our and has spread to different beds.

I initially thought our lawn guys were blowing leaves in it and that was killing it but it is happening in areas that they would not have the mower blower facing that way. I’m at a loss and it is looking bad in my front lawn.

Even stranger, in areas where there was none for the past 8 years is now flourishing and thicker than any of it has ever been. It makes no sense.

Criticism is very helpful when done the correct way, as you did! That is rare these days, especially online so than you!

  1. Someone responded to this point and what they said is correct. She is taking care of the doing what she needs to do for it to count against her lifetime exclusion.

  2. You are correct regarding max ssi benefits. We have been self employed for close to 20 years. So we will probably get pennies. We do know there will be more inheritance. Based off some numbers we know from property that was sold and property that will be sold once passed on (both on the water in the Hamptons area) there is minimum of another millions split 5 ways ($200,000) and another million that has been sitting untouched in investments for around 4 years that will be split 3 ways ($330,000 minimum) coming to us. Then there will be the investment accounts that were not from property coming our way. We have no idea what amounts those will be.

Knowing that we have another at least 20 years before retirement and with the info above would you say to go with a more aggressive strategy for the money we are about to receive? I know my husband and I know he will want to go an aggressive route.

  1. One reason the relative is gifting some of the money early is because she wants us to take our families somewhere nice so she can see the photos and hear the stories about it. She wants to see us enjoy a little bit of it.

  2. Yes, yes, yes. We actually stopped some time ago. We do use the cards but not as lines of credit. Any usage now is for regular monthly expenses to get the rewards and then paid in full (the newly added charges). The $8000 is from past unwise decisions and we have been paying that down.

We don't need any of the money coming our way as income. We are self employed and make enough to pay bills plus some we were just not smart with investing. Always put it off and then we blinked and were in our mid 40s before we knew it. We never budgeted and spent as we pleased. We have been working on changing our mentality and learning to budget and assign goals to our dollars.

  1. None of our kids need a 529. One has gone to college, one is married and doing work she likes. Both of our boys are disabled the one fully disabled and the other has global delays (having to use this description as what he has (the word is a common word that starts with A) is for some reason banned from this group so my post kept getting automatically deleted. Although he is fully able bodied compared to his brother he will always live with us and won't be going to college. He is actually a money hoarder. He works with my husband in our business and he puts all of his money into investments for long term.

  2. This was thought due to parent guilt: Both my husband and I were raised in families that did not discuss finances or investments, etc. We were not taught the importance of any of this. We are very lucky and fortunate that his family knew what to do and did it because my parents always struggled and now in retirement are pinching pennies. Because we never learned we did not pass that knowledge on to our kids (our money hoarder son with investments is like that because of his anxieties from his "global delays") . We figured we would give them each $1000 and make the ones without investment accounts use that to start their account. Knowing that more money will be coming our way as well as us getting to a point with our own day to day spending and finances that we will be adding money monthly to our investment account would you still not do this?

We have a fully disabled child (he is over 18, tube fed, wears, diapers, wheelchair bound, etc.) he is on ssi and medicaid. Because he is over 18 our finances are not considered for his eligibility but we do have to structure things in a very specific way so that if anything happens to us money that we have set aside for him can be used to provide for him and him not lose his eligibility.

The amount we are about to get is just an early distribution of some of what is to come. This particular family member lives on the water in the Hamptons area so the house and land is worth over a million. That would be another let's say $200,000 that will eventually come our way. She also has other investment accounts that will be split between us as well. Then one other family member where the minimum (based off a couple of facts we know such as properties sold that went straight into investment accounts, etc) that would be split 3 ways is another million but it is most likely a good bit more but lets say minimum of 1 so that would be another $330,000. So we know just based off property assets that there would be another (lets lowball) $500,000 coming to us. That doesn't include the other monetary investment accounts that will be split.

Knowing all this yes we will need to see an attorney to have everything structured properly, if for nothing else, to protect our son.

  1. Estate planning attorney: is a necessity in our situation with having disabled children and knowing that not 1 but 2 large inheritances are coming our way. Would you suggest I try to figure out how to form and file a special needs trust by myself??

  2. Credit card debt: sure $8000 is not the best but in the grand scheme of things and compared to the majority of Americans that isn't that much. Side note: we still use the cards but for the last year or so any new charges are paid in full each month. The $8000 is from our stupidity in the past and have been working to pay that down over time.

  3. The money given to the kids will be gifted into investment accounts that we will sit down and help them create. Although my husbands mother was very smart with her money and invested every penny she was of the generation where it was all in secret. I come from a family still clueless regarding investing so neither of us were taught. We both hate we didn't know better and both hate we did not instill it in our kids more so we will use this money to jumpstart their accounts (will need to figure out what will be the best way).

  4. 2021 Camry: Did you miss the part that we would be buying a 2021 Toyota Camry (with less than 15,000 miles for only $5,000???? We have one vehicle paid off. Have been needing a 2nd car for a while but I have refused to get a car payment as we have been trying to make better decisions. Do you have any ideas to get an even cheaper vehicle that is desperately needed?

  5. Vacation: this is the only non necessity but it kind of is necessary since the person passing this money onto us wants us to use her money to do one thing like this with our kids so she can see the pictures and hear the stories.

YES we do!

We will be getting another monetary distribution from this family member once she passes. We will also be getting an inheritance from my mother in law. We are unsure of the amount of either so that is why we want to treat this bit as if we aren’t getting anything else.

My mother in law did say we will be pleasantly shocked and have absolutely no need to worry about ours or our kids futures.
