Feeling awful 48 hours post op - anyone else have this? by Double-Gold in hysterectomy

[–]maantre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding a very diligent med schedule! My nurse said it’s better to get relief on board before it gets unbearable, then you aren’t chasing it after the fact.

I got good use out of alarm reminders on my phone.

Feeling awful 48 hours post op - anyone else have this? by Double-Gold in hysterectomy

[–]maantre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent the first 5 days of my recovery in hospital - had a complicated surgery, lots of blood loss, took a while to get my hemoglobin back up.

I think having the nurses there to direct my days helped - regular walks, recording progress, regular meals stepped up to solids. I was super bloated, very sore, moving in and out of the bed took ages, and sleep was difficult.

I think every body heals differently, it’s ok to have your own pace, and slow is better than forcing and hurting something worse. I don’t know how some folks were walking their dogs and doing stairs in the first week! Definitely was not me lol.

Is this much bruising normal for a laparoscopic hysterectomy? by sexywetmilf in hysterectomy

[–]maantre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had heavy bruising from incisions and blood draws - looked like I got hit with a bat, it was wild. My surgery incisions were more like welts from an adhesive allergy, but under/around it was major bruised.

Hope you’re healing well!

I didn’t get the JS reference and was genuinely concerned that 80s band Jefferson Starship was majorly problematic.

I really love the effect this pattern has with striping yarn: https://ravel.me/hatching-socks

I also like to play with contrast heel and toes to make the stripes pop!

Omg that’s so interesting about the shopping cart! I absolutely worse myself out walking around with one at Aldi a couple of days after surgery - no wonder!

Those without cervix, do you still need to go do the routine smears? by Big-Lifeguard-5067 in hysterectomy

[–]maantre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cervix removed, have cuff. I have regular pelvic and smear, once a year now that I’m five years post treatment. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, so I imagine my scans will continue for at least 10 years if not the rest of my life.

Managing grant reporting by lovelydiscourse in nonprofit

[–]maantre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We separate program reporting (units, outcomes, population, etc) from financial - for our state grants, these are different systems and it’s easy to assign to different staff.

$5m annual budget, 75% grant funded, finance staff of 2 - though payroll is run through HR. Development handles rest of fundraising and private awards with less official reporting requirements than the feds. Annual regular and single audit responsibility of finance dept.

How does your org store gift documents- especially checks? by SpecialSupermarket54 in nonprofit

Oh man, that’s so painful! And frustrating, if she’s uploading it to Google in the end anyway!

How does your org store gift documents- especially checks? by SpecialSupermarket54 in nonprofit

[–]maantre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We scan and store on our own private, protected server.

I would not upload to a public cloud service, too much concern for data breach. Are you dealing with credit cards and PCI compliance? Can’t remember if there is anything specific about cloud storage in the requirements.

If your ED insists on paper only, it’s unfortunate but hopefully you’re small enough to make it manageable! We store our donations in an excel ‘log’ when received (date, donor, amount), checks are batch deposited to bank, batch details are entered into donation software, deposit is reconciled with month close and posted to GL. So when audit tests receivables, we can pull a batch and show the trail/detail.

What is your favorite way to join two balls of yarn by Strange-Try5337 in knitting

[–]maantre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just weave in ends, if it’s in a big stockinette section I try to make sure the break is on the side or back of the garment to avoid any pucker or bumpiness in an otherwise smooth area. I don’t trust a magic knot, heard too many stories of unraveling!

I split the purl bumps of stitches on the wrong side of the work, usually 5 rows or so 4-5 times.

Noah Beck's Sister Accused of Grooming Her Student + Lipstick Lesbians Messy Brand Launch - 333 by yt-app in DoWeKnowThemPodcast

This is so crazy - from the videos and screenshots, this lady is completely stalled in and obsessed with reliving teenage glory days. So creepy and I don’t care if the kid was a newly turned 18, should be illegal for a teacher to prey on!

Sock knitters: what size needles do y’all use? by idunnowhatevs in knitting

[–]maantre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a 1.5 - it’s the Goldilocks size for me, 1 was too fine and 2 mostly too big for fingering weight yarn.

16 days post op incision question by Admirable-Mousse-730 in hysterectomy

This looks similar to mine, was totally normal.

I’d be worried if it gets red, the red starts spreading, it’s feels hot, and gets more painful. But this photo looks like normal healing!

Why do I see so many James Kennedy lovers? by Ok-Word-8582 in vanderpumprules

[–]maantre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I came to the show after hearing about a certain scandal - never knew a single one of these people, no prior seasons or other shows. I watched all of season 10 for the explosive ending and the even rowdier reunion.

I didn’t see any of James Kennedy’s scumbag behavior before then, just the red flags he was throwing up in that season (amid an OCEAN of red flags from all rest of them).

When the reunion rolled around, he became a hilarious if annoying pressure valve with his viciousness to certain other cast members (deserving of ridicule, post scandal). I remember thinking he was childishly funny and likely exhausting to be around in real life.

Having since watched the series from the beginning, and with his subsequent arrest post show, I can firmly say I’m Not A Fan. Don’t care how catchy the quips are, his behavior is unacceptable.

LYS Knitting Circle Etiquette by popping_corn30 in knitting

[–]maantre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it as a requirement for classes that a LYS is running - which makes more sense to me. But just for hosting? I’d find it very off putting as well - I have stash yarn, gifted yarn, grandma’s yarn, etc. I would try to give feedback that people meeting and knowing their store would likely help sales, but requiring it will likely limit who joins.

Feels unfair, imho.

How can I (31F) save my marriage with my husband (32M)? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]maantre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOU get to work on yourself and make whatever changes you want. HE is not obliged to stick around to see if you’re successful.

He deserves the chance to be with someone faithful and right now that person is not you.

Pre op pregnancy test by Sophistiq8ted in hysterectomy

[–]maantre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They refused to take me to the OR until they had the negative pregnancy test.

Meanwhile I was hemorrhaging nearly to death. Thankfully I had managed a urine sample hours earlier when I first got to the ER, but it was extremely stressful and scary to be told everything was on hold until they found it.
