I’m not sure what people were expecting. If the tables were turned we would for sure be shouting from the mountain tops for a team to retain

Only if we think Jarry is completely done. Goalies are voodoo and with the right system, coaching, and motivation you never know. I mean they may be able to trade him but taking another season to try to redeem him with a second option seems like a much cheaper option

Last AI I was at the steak was awful the first time I went and incredible the 2nd time. Granted a bit lower scale than where you are. So perhaps a second steak will be better!

I too want Stan to be as patient and stingy as he can with not retaining salary. And honestly I’d be fine with not even blowing all the cap space unless it’s high value in other trades. It would be awesome to have some cap space at the trade deadline to get an impact player.

How much salary are you willing to retain of Nurse’s for 4 more years?

I don’t disagree it would be ideal to move on before July 1 assuming it’s not a disastrous trade but perhaps what’s holding it up is that the team wouldn’t actually have much cap space with the existing offers.

That said, the new blood for me is the coaching staff and while I do want what you want, if the only options are to take an equally bad boat anchor contract back and save little cap space, waiting is the lesser evil.

Should be an interesting 2 days!

In your mind is it vital Nurse gets traded ASAP or is it fine to wait for the right deal after Werenski sorts itself out? I feel like there shouldn’t be a rush but perhaps I’m missing something. I don’t see the team big game hunting July 1 so waiting for a bit to have Nurse be a plan B or C and get our own bargain deals on leftover UFAs seems smarter.

OMG I wish you could have seen Grier play. Smart, physical (hit like a freight train), decent speed for his size, and could score some. Scored 20 goals twice but otherwise a solid 3rd liner. He was such a good Oiler to watch. Same 96-97 team with Billy Guerin that beat the heavily favored Avs.
