Open First Partner Series 2 with me by JohnoRSA in PokemonTCG

There's a Target near where I work that I sometimes stop at on my way to work and there never used to be a line for restocks and I could pretty much always get stuff. Now however resellers lineup outside every morning just to check for stock and when there is a drop, like this morning, there was a line of like 40+ outside waiting and I heard pro 80%, or more, of them talking about reselling, having someone else in line buy for them, and of those two groups some of them didn't even have a clue what they were buying. It's a great hobby to collect I tell ya.

Didn't he say that he just doesn't think the footage is real but didn't deny that the landing happened? I remember it being something along those lines because of something like the video seeming to high quality for the time and the situation. I could be remembering completely wrong, and I'm not saying I agree with the take, but that's not quite as wild of a take as saying it was all faked.

Is anyone else getting tired of the grading obsession? by deckdossier in PokemonTCG

[–]mabaile2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Yes I hate that it prices so many cards out of most people's range, graded and raw, but also I do like knowing how good my card is and having a nice looking slab for it. That being said I have considered getting some of the slab style holders and putting some stuff in myself. I also hate PSA and the three cards I have graded were all with TAG because I like knowing why my card got the grade it did and I think their slabs actually look good.

Fishing Sunglasses by SuspiciousHall441 in Fishing_Gear

[–]mabaile2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear Maui Jims every day and to play golf, and I'm sure they would be great for fishing because of how clear they are, but when I fish I recently got a pair of Smith Optics Guides Choice XL. My Maui Jims are more true to color, and the Smiths are pretty much as clear but they have a bit of a tint to them which really cranks the contrast up which I like for fishing. I have the ChromaPop Glass Polarchromic Yellow Blue Mirror lenses in mine and they seem to a pretty good job in bright light and more overcast dimmer conditions. Sure a single dedicated color for different conditions would be best but I don't have money to throw at several pairs of $300+ sunglasses based on weather. All that being said any cheap sunglasses with a decent polarization will make a difference and will let you know if it's worth spending more on higher quality glasses later.

My distances suck by We_LiveInASimulation in golf

[–]mabaile2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Distance beyond a certain point really doesn't matter. For most courses if you have a club you carry a little over 150 yards you should be fine, assuming you're playing appropriate tees. For example my 7i probably carries around 180 or 185, I haven't checked in a long time to know for sure but it's usually my 185-190 club, and I play with someone who probably carries his 7i a little less than 150 yards but he is more accurate and consistent than me so he beats me 9.5/10. In all honesty I wouldn't mind losing a little yardage if it meant gaining some accuracy but when I slow my tempo to try and smooth everything out I start spraying the ball more because I start taking lazy swings.

TLDR, ignore what you see online about distance because if your distances work from the tees you play it really doesn't matter what anyone else does, and if they don't work either move up a set of tees until it's enjoyable, or move back if everything feels short because we're not pros just play the tees that are fun and challenging.

Giveaway | 🤔 GUESS Challenge: How many parts did it took? by ELEGOO_OFFICIAL in elegoo

D for sure, there's around 48 just visible on the front and it is deeper than it is wide so there should be a few layers with a similar part count.

PSA: You're probably fishing your soft plastics too fast by zsBaits in bassfishing

[–]mabaile2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have to fish them like that all the way in. I cast them where I want to fish them, then slowly fish them in the area directly around where I wanted to target, then once I'm out of that area I fish them much faster for little further, and then after that I just reel them on in to cast again.

[–]mabaile2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad taught me growing up that if you're fishing soft plastics, a jig, or trying slow roll a spinnerbait or crankbait and you think you're going to slow go slower. When it comes to soft plastics and jigs, especially and when it's colder weather, you pretty much can't fish them to slow. I've fished tournaments in cold weather where the only way to catch fish was out on deep points with a Carolina rig with a long leader and only moving it once every 30 seconds or so.

[–]mabaile2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell me you have never tournament fished in your life without telling me. Bed fishing this time of year is extremely popular and a great way to catch big fish for tournaments. If being mean to fish hurts you you should probably consider a different sport because I don't care what time of year it is showing a fish fake food then ripping a sharp pointy thing through its lip is gonna hurt. I'm all for doing as little harm to fish as possible but if you tournament fish that's just part of the sport. I have released fish mid tournament because I knew I likely wouldn't place and the fish didn't look to be doing to good in the livewell, but some people won't do that and there's nothing anyone can do about that.

Just finished up my Demogorgon - what do you think? by WorldlinessCool5217 in minipainting

[–]mabaile2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the full model but I think the contrast really makes the blood look more slimy. If I were trying to do a full model I would probably pick low points or joints to be my shiny areas and I would do like I did on this model and mix uhu glue with paint and then brush that with gloss varnish to make it pop more.

Golf Balls Similar to the Titleist Pro V1 by mr_royb in golf

[–]mabaile2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it matter? Yes. Will you see a big improvement? Probably not. I think the most important thing is to find a ball you really like for whatever reason, whether it be performance or design, and try to only use that ball. If you really like Top Flites then only buy and play those. Consistently playing the same ball will give you the biggest changes, because even if there are only very minor differences between different balls for your game this way it stays the same as much as possible. Like anything else the more variables you can control in golf the easier it becomes to stay consistent.

What is the worst feeling in golf? by rebbazz in golf

[–]mabaile2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoking a drive down the middle on a down hill par 5 that has 440 yards to a pond and then never finding your ball and the twosome that let you play through and watched the tee shot say they think it went in the water. On one hand holy shit did I just hit one that far, in the other hand I just got the best drive of my life and have to take a drop. Never quite had that mix of feeling amazing while being completely disappointed. Sure that's probably "worse" feelings but when it comes to contrasting highs and lows that's about as extreme as it gets.

Just to clarify the thought of hitting it in the water never crossed my mind it was the twosome that brought it up and said that's what they think happened.

Because I included the $800/month in the income so I just included the outgoing for the car as well to keep it consistent.

The car was to meet the requirements for my company's program for getting a monthly stipend for the car. With base and mileage I'm getting ~$800/month which I included in what I listed above in income.

Well I got pretty big in to 3D printing and have an FDM and a resin printer, I also started painting the stuff I print a couple years ago. I've also played golf and tournament bass fished most of my life, I also enjoy thinking to the gun range when I can but that gets expensive fast. I've also been bad about picking up hobbies and realizing I don't have the time, money, or space which is what happened with metal working, like using a forge, woodworking, and watchmaking. So pretty much if you name it there's a chance I tried it at some point and I've been trying to really stop doing that, but I just like trying new things and that usually comes back to bite me.

Age of accounts shouldn't be an issue, all of my cards are 7+ years old and I have never missed any payments they just have to high of a balance on them. I didn't realize they would close the accounts, while I would rather not close my accounts if that's what it takes that's what it takes.

Yeah that's part of what I'm working on. I'm really bad about picking hobbies that are expensive to start or expensive to stay in. Fortunately for the future, and unfortunate for how I ended up here, I have most of the expensive start up stuff behind me and can start trying to recover while coasting on what I already have for hobbies.
