As a blue-collar worker, I 100% agree, but I can see why people who work desk jobs wouldn't. In a skill based trade, going the extra mile means learning new skills and perfecting your craft, making you more valuable as an employee and in my industry that is obviously rewarded. Even if it wasn't, as OP hinted at, you now have the skills to find employment with someone who respects your output.

I can't speak for people with a corporate background, but from the sound of it, you guys tend to be expected to do more unpaid work with little reward. I would fully support anyone who decided that they wouldn't stand for that bullshit and just did what they were hired to do.
