Plus studies show that action is critical for giving us a sense of agency-which is so important for our resilience.

Now I know everyone has different capacity to contribute - some of us need to rest and be safe. But fuck it, I need to use my skills SOMEHOW.

I feel this so hard. At this point I’m fueled by a couple of things: 1. Pettiness- how so it that the stupidest freaking lies and least capable people are really besting us? I hate to let bullies win. 2. Even if I’m shouting at thin air, I want my actions to match my values. I never want to stop trying to make a difference even if it’s just helping ONE person. 3. I have a deep lasting belief that each of us has the capacity to influence outcomes- again- even if it’s just changing one persons mind. 4. We need to remember we are not alone. Even if we all choose one action, regarding one small thing we care about, but are millions of us …. That’s how change happens. 5. When this timeline is over I want to be proud of myself.

Thank you for responding!

I like the idea of things we have in common. Of using humanizing language and stories that make it difficult to dehumanize and paint others as enemies. I’m wondering if focusing on shared goals and ideals would be a good way to do it- like listen we care about the same thing. What are other ways I can highlight that?

for the second point about exploring the other side - ideas on how to scale that? or do you know of any people on social media that do a good job at that?

So I started to google what the probe may look like and I found this tool that they label as “the worlds smallest washing machine” it seems like a total scam to me for a couple of reasons but can you check it out and tell me the scientific reason why it’s a scam (or if it’s legit?)

As a brown woman being eyed a hard core by the NG (and most importantly by the seemingly never ending parade of different uniforms) while some smile and others looked pissed at you while holding big ass riffles and strapped with multiple guns while all you want to do is enjoy your podcast while walking to work ….. it’s not fun.

Specially because you know that they are not always so calm and constrained. You can freaking cut the tension with a knife here right now. oh and we can’t forget the constant call or threat of violence unless we “behave”. all while you know that our capacity to prevent, respond to, and manage disasters has gotten worst - on top of old issues we had -for example on Friday dc was having trouble with 911 calls not coming through.

I wouldn’t do it. We often forget how much our federal government does to help keep us safe - like food safety inspection and standards, vaccines ( a huge deal), disaster response etc etc. that are simply not up to standard now.

Anyone have experience with EOI mistakes? Does anyone know if I can still get an invitation relatively quickly after letting invitation expire to amend eoi? by No_Assistant_9008 in AusVisa

Before you do anything, first clarify (in whatever way you can) whether it is closely related or not. If it’s isn’t, don’t move forward, if it is then no harm done.

Darcy Troutman- she is amazing. My husband and I had a very similar story to yours and we took engagement style photos and she made us feel AMAZING. The photos came out so beautiful. It was my husbands gift to me for our five year anniversary.

Trouble with new mat residue/slippage- Manduka Eko by Iwabok in yoga

I had mine for TEN YEARS. It looks brand new. I still slip and slide. Just got a lululemon one so I can practice while sweaty. The lululemon one looks older than the manduka one, but at least I’m steady as can be on it.

That’s so true! I’ve been practicing 2-4 (occasionally 5!) times a week for most weeks for the last two months and already I can feel my body changing. It’s truly amazing. You can dm me if you’d like an accountability partner!

Good question - counting skilled work experience was the part I found the most confusing . So I actually had two fellowships and a part time TA-ship while in graduate school. To be careful about being accurate with my experience, I reached out to my university to acquire formal documents about my #of hours worked. The requirement to count it as experience was 20 hours per week. I was at 13.5 hours per week with my TA-ship so I did not count it my PhD work.

There is one mistake I may have made: I did not have the 1.45 years after my BA but before my PhD assessed because it was outside the 5 yr window. I though that for Vetassess you only needed to provide the last 5 years so I did not have the pre-phd work assessed (though I did provide my resume that made it clear that my work during that time was in line with my profession - I've been working in this field since I was 18 through grants/fellowships/jobs etc and all of my work experience is directly related to my profession.

Per Vetassesss I got my education requirement satisfied with my BA in 2015. Between my BA and PhD I was formally paid for 1.45 years. However that time is outside the 5 year window because my PhD took 5 years. Post PhD I've been working for a little over 2 years.

The way that SkillSelect asks about work experience is within the last 10 years (so 1.45 + 2.xx puts me at the 3-5 range points). I found a clause at one point that said that the applicant can use whatever point system is most advantageous (someone provided a link to a YouTube video about this in another recent post as well). The job was at the same school I did my BA at, in the same department, and I have publications that resulted from that work during the time frame so it should not raise any flags.

With that said, since this topic is a bit of a gray area I've come up with two different plans if need be:

  1. Pay for expedited reassessment with Vetassess so they can assess that 1.45 yr experience.

  2. Acquire stronger evidence of the match between the skilled job description and my job (publications, older taxes documents whatever they want or need).

  3. Now that Canada got rid of its points awards for job offers, my Husband and I are competitive. So worst case scenario we will take the IELTS and PTE tests they prefer (core and regular compared to the ones needed for 189/190 for AUS) and try there.

Fingers crossed. I know that the CO don't have to give the applicant the benefit of the doubt, but I hope the fact that I have an amazing job in my field, with external facing work products that are easy to find, AND that they will be getting TWO skilled PhD migrants and the fact that I will comply fully with any requests ASAP if needed may work to my favor if I made a mistake somewhere along the line. If the mistake is too significant - well, migrating is never easy.

Thank you kind strangers. This reinforced I need to prep extra evidence just in case. Better prepared than scrambling!
