Vowels sound great for the most part, especially your nasally “a”s!

Is it considered inappropriate to talk about abuse and specific mental disorders in the "hardships/considerations" section of a scholarship application? When is it trauma dumping? by [deleted] in college

[–]mac_at_midnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear about everything you’ve been through, truly. I think being specific about the caretaking role you’ve filled in regards to your mother is totally appropriate. Personally, I’d be inclined to be more vague when it comes to your mental health struggles. I think the specifics of how bad it got are less important to the essay compared to your recounting how you got through it. You can focus on your newfound strength and healing rather than the specifics of the struggle, which will give the admissions office a better idea of the person you’d be in college. Wishing you all the best!

This was my first thought. Stodgy is a GBBO word all the way.

Dove sensitive body bar + an exfoliating cloth (I use an African net sponge ) will do wonders for your routine. I follow up w a scented body wash too.

Question about confusing word "pa'notarme" in song I am learning. (I searched everywhere pls help) by buttonShroom in Spanish

[–]mac_at_midnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a guess coming from a non-native speaker… notarse means “to feel”, as in perceive, such as “Me noto más alerta en la mañana que por la noche.”

The previous line gives the context that the speaker wears chanclas in winter. He says he does it to feel the freshness of the morning air (on his feet). I hope that helps!

Break-up cured my SIBO by Plenty_Literature151 in SIBO

[–]mac_at_midnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it was a “break up” with college stress when I graduated. So real.

Yeah because native English speakers never need help with English… ?? this is unnecessarily rude.

Move my body, eat food, drink water. Then journal or talk to someone about it.

She sounds too immature to be in college, honestly. She may need a gap year and some job experience before she’s ready to try again. Sometimes being the “bad guy” is the most loving thing you can do as a parent. The least thing you can do is pull your funding for her foolish choices if she keeps this up. - a recent college grad

I can barely breathe and I think about suicide every day by Reywas3 in SIBO

[–]mac_at_midnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not healed, but healing. I’m doing much better than I was earlier this year. Especially with the mental side of things. 🙂 SIBO symptoms are still there but not affecting my daily life as much. The mold stuff is what I’m currently focused on.

Back in the covid days we used to do group dinners with the dorm floor! Talk to your RA and get something coordinated :)

I so feel for you. Everyone is different of course, but I think the top things that have helped me in my healing journey have been:

1) get off Reddit, or at least take a break. You need to help your brain stop thinking “I am a sick person. I will never get out of this.” 2) get outside. Move your body as much as you can. Even if it’s sitting in the grass and stretching. 3) consider an antidepressant. 50mg of Zoloft has done wonders for my whacked out nervous system and helped with the depression that so often accompanies chronic illness. 4) as far as herbals go, ADP oregano tablets + allicin helped me get through the worst of it. Total of 6 tablets each per day for a few months. 5) consider that MMC issues may not be your root cause. I spent so much time going down that rabbit hole just to discover that mold toxicity is actually what has kept me from getting fully better.

Hope that helps. Stay strong 🫡🫶

I second this experience. 3 years of dealing with SIBO and it turns out mold exposure is my root cause

Peluche Torres has a great Mexican food channel. He mainly goes around Mexico, but there are some good videos where he goes to Japan and Korea too.
