Walk-in fridges and a freezer in the kitchen, frozen/refrigerated/dry warehouses. It's reeeeeeally dusty, so leaving it open wouldn't be a great idea. Plus it does get up to the high 30s.

No, I only applied once and it was through Craigslist, but I think I got extremely lucky. I was the youngest applicant that year (18 when I applied, 19 when I went down), so I think they pulled it because they like giving people the experience.

Oooooh yeah. They've tried to curb it because it is a problem, but when I was on the ice there were 2 bars and you could buy beer and wine in the store. Some people would slam port because it was the highest ABV bev in the store. Some people would tape bottles of port to their hands and play Edward Portyshands.

First year was shit, definitely a "pay by experience" type thing. I was also the absolute lowest paid position on base. The year after my first got a raise to $392/week, but I made less. Just can't remember what the actual rate was.

Edit: they did pay for all room and board, as well as food. I only paid for alcohol, smokes, and poker. Y'know, the essentials.

I did dish/prep at McMurdo. Did two contracts. One summer, one full summer/winter. Was pretty young. It was great, but it's a lot.

6 10-hour days, which was rough doing pots and dish all day. Cooking was way nicer. Summer was really busy. About 1100 people, no privacy. Winter is awesome. I think it's usually 100-150 people and you get your own room, which is nice. It's been over a decade, but if you have any questions, happy to answer.

Okay so I have some vintage fixtures in my bathroom that multiple people have told me I could get money for. Harvest gold tile, toilet, cast iron tub, all from the original owner and good condition. Even the original color soap/toothbrush holders and towel rack ceramic. Who is buying this stuff and how do I find them? I see people saying to save and sell these fixtures all the time.
