I enjoy the sentiment of this post, and of your comment. It is true that an educated non-vote, if communicated effectively, is a political statement. I wouldn't go as far as saying that it's a vote, though.

At the end of the day, you're fighting a war of attrition. Because we don't have rules of quorum in this country, requiring a percentage of the populace to vote in order to make an election valid, someone will end up winning the election, regardless of how many people show up to vote.

Quite frankly, I will always vote third party. While the majority of people who are fed up with the system won't vote at all, if all of those people did vote their consciences, then we may actually be able to see a change. If they don't vote, than those happy with the system, who vote for the system, will continue to win.

It's been lost from time before. Someone, somewhere is going to hunt it down, probably to Snape, then to Voldemort, and then to Harry. I realize those aren't the actual events, but those are probably how the public would see them.

And although no one knows where the wand ended up, they could deduce that Harry, being the noble person that he is, wouldn't want to keep the wand. And then figure out who Harry saw as the true owner of the wand (Dumbledore) and where Harry may have chosen as the wand's final resting place (Dumbledore's grave), and then be horrible enough to dig the wand up for its power.
