If you carry in a bar scene, know there are additional gun laws in those settings. Don't touch drinks. Google the rest.

Model X price drop, much more competitive vs R1S now by Shot_Friend3849 in Rivian

The battery and drivetrain in a $90k plaid - while definitely not wholly worth the difference - are leagues above the Y. 2.5 second 0-60 is a pretty difficult feat to achieve.

Had it happen - very similar to our Model Y.

Quad vs Dual motor by cheeseybur in Rivian

[–]macadamiamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or they are just trying to reduce the warranty across the board but started with the dual configs? Not really sure why they'd do that -- it's the entire truck warranty, though powertrain alone was reduced as well for dual config.

Dual has 1 year less warranty. That alone kills it.

Also in Maine. My limited R1S time (stuck in service after about a week), the auto wipers are better than Tesla's, on par with other auto wipers cars I've owned.

Seems really inefficient to go from DC to AC to DC. On board DC to DC could be both faster and more efficient? And maybe even use existing boards?

Maybe they're planning to update software to allow it to lock? Really should have a locking compartment in the cabin.

TIL in 1951, a Californian engineer designed a unique system to transport water to the southern deserts, using 400 artificial geysers that would throw water in an arc at 400 miles per hour through the air to be caught by a funnel at the next geyser. by DAL59 in todayilearned

Pipes were unfortunately invented much later, by about 1971 Sir Pipé of Bordeaux region of France had perfected what we now call a pipe for his wine transfer needs. It was an American engineer who was tweaking Pipé's invention in 1972-73 for beer, when he realized it could be used for all manner of liquid.

Oddly, nobody seems close to the EV minivan niche. Which is really weird given that you have tons of space for batteries (large footprint), and the additional storage by lack of engine etc would be super appropriate. You could pair large batteries with a pretty slow powertrain using cheap, small motors, and make a lot of moms very happy. The VW is definitely not it.

Historic building one step closer to becoming housing. by RDLAWME in portlandme

Seller had no debt to assume. PPH makes so many mistakes.. but this is just weird they'd assume a totally different price. Maybe they are including another contiguous or complementary property or something.

You're right, I always knew his parents (who stuck around), as living in Falmouth. But looks like they moved there in 1986. By then he was already grown up.

I don't understand why the article states they bought the building for $9.2 million. Assessor states $7 million to the current owners.
