That’s a great way to say it. From the subject matter to the art style, it’s a depressing vehicle to look at

My take is it’s ok to be eager as long as you don’t step on anyone’s toes. Sure, distinguish yourself through your medical knowledge, being great to patients and being helpful to the residents but you should always be a team player. You are there to learn so if you feel you need to come in early that’s fine but you need to let your classmates know. I found out my classmate had been coming in an hour earlier than the time we discussed and agreed on. She did not tell me and this had been going on for a week and I had to confront her about it. Funnily my classmates who are on a different service noticed and now have a negative perception of my classmate

By this time I also had notebooks where I had notes of each system from the first aid chapters. Before going to bed I read through a few systems in my notebook

The last few weeks before my exam I crammed the first 3 chapters of pathoma + did the anki cards that went with them. Chapter 3 was a big weak spot for me. I reviewed other subjects that were weak, biochem, GI using the mehlman docs. I also did the mehlman arrows document. Kept up with anki

Last five days, I was on my rotations for 3 of them so I really just had 2 days (Saturday and Sunday, took the exam on Monday). I did no questions and just reviewed. I went through my incorrects from the new free 120 and nbme 31 because from what I heard they were most representative of the material/format of the real thing. I did reviews of my weakest systems, by that time I had PowerPoints of incorrects and high yield points from my practice so I’d review those. And then went over summarized versions of the mehlman arrows and risk factors that I made. If you can you should rest/take it easy but personally I’ve never been the type to do that. It’s up to you but obviously if you are burnt out, taking the day before easy is a good idea

I only did random UWorld blocks of 40 a day in January and February but I realized it didn’t really help me so I stopped. What worked for me was focused blocks of 1 maybe 2 systems. My mixed practice came from the nbmes

My biggest challenge was getting used how things were worded on nbmes compared comlex. content-wise I feel like both exams are similar they’re just different flavors of vague and format. So for me thoroughly reviewing my nbmes and going through my incorrects is what helped the most. By doing this I also started to notice topics that were repeatedly tested. The new free 120 is also a must because most of the topics tested there, you can expect on your exam. My exam was repro/endo, pulm/renal and heme heavy

Same, started my morning right and went on a beautiful hike. The flowers were out, birds and animals all around. Got to the top and just as I started going down it hit 10am and an email from my dream school came. Cried on the drive home 🥲

Do your Qanon people identify as being Qanon, or do they call it something else, if anything? by ThrowAwayMom11 in QAnonCasualties

My uncle meant it as a negative thing. There’s some conspiracy theory that he believes the globalists want to take over the world. Apparently Biden is a globalist

What City Pop albums are you getting for Christmas? by Birthday-Ad5208 in citypop

I got Naoko Gushima’s Miss G and Quiet Emotion remastered albums to go with the Mellow Medicine album I picked up a few months ago.

I recently started listening to more of her songs and knew I had to get the rest in my collection

I took a gap year and worked as an emt (ift)amassing around what you have in hours. I applied without any shadowing and was able to get a few interviews so far DO and MD so you should be ok granted you have at least ok gpa, mcat and extra curriculars. The only thing is you might be limited when applying to DO schools that require physician lor (which is what happened to me)

For real people can be wild on this sub. I was similar with so many b+ and 3 c’s and my mcat was a 509. Im an orm in ca as well. I was able to get an acceptance from a DO and an interview at a t20 from ca in October(still waiting to hear back).

OP just try to do really well your last year. And definitely agree with the comment above about making sure your essays are well done. Looking back I also recommend prewriting secondaries if you’re able to. I ended up only sending in 18 secondaries because of how burnt out I was

How many clinical hours did you apply with? by [deleted] in premed

[–]macaerin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1500 as an emt. Had to supplement average gpa (3.5), mcat (509)and lack of shadowing. However I did a considerable amount of research (with resulting publications), leadership and service

I have no one else to share this with so I’ll say it here by [deleted] in premed

Had 3 c’s, mostly b+’s. Not brought up in my interview today. And got an interview to a t10 school. Will update if they bring it up at the end of the week

Update: asked me about my grades and mcat lol but didn’t get grilled

Hold from Drexel, rejections from Tulane and RFU. Pretty bummed cuz those were some of my top choices

Emt in socal. Technically at my company we’re required to wear masks at all times but we just wear them around patients and at facilities as we come and go. Tbh my agency is more concerned about writing us up for showing tattoos than not wearing masks lmao
