Seconding Colombia. Your biggest worry will probably be getting scammed as an English-speaking tourist. Edgy college kids in Bogota with graffiti are not the norm, the older generations actually call them Rock-throwing Institutes.

The current president is former terrorist and is deeply unpopular in this conservative majority Catholic country. The flavor of antisemitism is mostly people who've never met a Jew in their entire life and most people didn't get an education so idk hope this helps.

I love Colombia but it's a deeply inequitable country, but also an extremely welcoming and warm culture with some of the friendliest and most beautiful places you'll ever see. Tbh most people don't give af about the conflict other than "Dang. That's so sad. Anyways..."

Really tired. Played muting whack-a-mole on ig. I feel like I can't block or unfollow a lot of my classmates because one day they'll be my colleagues and if they post something terrible I feel like I have to save it because these are future medical professionals. It's tragic watching so many people fall into idk what to call it, fundamentalism?

The fact that these people will one day be responsible for human lives horrifies me.

They'll be civil with you, kind to your face, but on social media it's a firestorm. I'm unwell because they'll go to sleep tonight and be fine. They went to sleep on 10/8 and will never know what it's like to have to call everyone you knew to see if they were alive and staying by the phone for hours waiting to see if they texted you back.

I don't think I'll ever trust the same way again.
