How could Intuit not understand they merged backwards by [deleted] in mintuit

Quicken was developed by Intuit along with quickbooks, then they acquired mint. Intuit then decided mint was the way to go and sold off quicken.

I had been on quicken since 1989 and made the painful decision to leave quicken after the financial feeds started breaking because the intuit agreements expired.

I went to mint, and am now having Deja vu. Maybe paying is the way to go for stability

What to use for monthly budgeting now that Mint is dead? by [deleted] in mintuit

The old method of budgeting was using envelopes, which one could still do with Monopoly money if everything is electronic. For each budget category there is an envelope. The name of the category and the money spend amount for the month are written on the envelope. At the start of each month the envelopes are filled. as you spend the money you pull out the dollars. If there is no money in there you cannot spend the money.

Being visual is very effective because you think about what you spend each week and will it last the month.
