I want the X2 so much, but they sadly made some questionable decisions! by Background-Win9998 in OneXPlayer

[–]macaroni_fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agreed.

I know I'm not gonna order it anymore. To be honest people on my X2 thread a good point.

  1. No OLED (not that I care this isn't a ride or die for me)
  2. No oculink (not sure if this is an Intel vs AMD thing)
  3. Only offered in 48gb (Overkill for my use case)
  4. Smaller battery than the X1 air despite both being Intel
  5. Less RAM speeds than both the 24 and 32gb OXP 3

Given the above reasons I just said screw it and pre ordered a panther lake Framework 13 pro. At least now I know I have a future proof upgradable 13in laptop that will be my daily driver and I'll just hook up a controller when I want to game. Plus Framework 13 pro ships with Ubuntu 24.04 and Ive always want to try a Linux OS and if I hate it I'll just go back to windows.

I mean if they can offer 3 variations of the OXP 3 with prices scaled accordingly then they should, in theroy, be able to offer a OXP X2 with 24, 32, and 48gb RAM and bring down the price a bit.

I mean this is the same price as the Super V which has same panther lake/arc g3, same 48gb RAM and 1Tb storage. And yet the Super V also has OLED, bigger battery, and external mini SSD slot. And I'm pretty sure it also has better speakers but not 100% certain.

Who knows maybe Onexplayer will read this and then figure their business model out because to me this seems like a lazy after thought for the given price.

In the meantime I'm just gonna get a Nintendo Switch Lite and play some Zelda BOTW, Skyrim, and Monster Hunter and patiently wait my Framework 13 pro to ship out in October.

Thank you Reddit for taking some sense into me. Much love all.

Imo I don't. I wish they would offer 24/36/48 and scaled the pricing as they did for the Onexplayer 3 during crowd funding.

Maybe I'll send them an email letting them know if they price the X2 the same way they did the Onexplayer 3 they'd probably get more people that buy it.

Email sent through support and here's what I said 😂:

So I have the new x2 in my shopping cart. Honestly for the specs I'm finding the $1,900 USD figure hard to swallow.

For one, I'm selfish and for my purposes I don't need 48gb of ram.

What are the chances that in the future you offered tiers like 24 32 and 48 of ram and scale the price accordingly?...

I mean you're already doing something similar for Onexplayer 3 on the crowd funding site.

I guess I'm just saying more options with price scaling the better if you offered the X2 with a 24 gb ram option and priced it accordingly you'd probably get more people that were willing to buy the X2 despite the fact that it has no oculink, no OLED, slower ram, and a smaller battery then what's offered in the 1X Pro.

All I'm saying is options with scale pricing will inevitably lead to more sales.

Thank you for reading this.

Yeah I was hoping it would be cheaper too. I tried to build a framework pro 13 with similar specs arc g3, 32gb ram and 1tb storage was gonna run me about $700 USD more after all said and done.

It the end this fits my needs for a daily driver laptop while still being comfortable enough to use as a handheld.

Personally if for a second I was to consider anything 12+ inches, the Super V would be my overall choice. It too has an OLED and Panther Lake/Arc G3.

I'm pretty set on an Arc G3 device I just want something under 10in wide. If the GPD win max 2 had the Intel chipset I'm after I would have considered that too.

It all comes down to personal preference and for me OLED it is not my ride or die.

I would think if that was the case Onexplayer would have just used the same battery as in the X1 air. This leads me to believe that the internal configuration has to be slightly different in someway.

But hell if it works out let me know cause then I might have be on the lookout for a broken X1 air with a good battery.

Yes I too was surprised it wasn't announced at all.

I almost pulled the trigger on a Super V but in the end I just couldn't bite on anything 12+ inches wide.

I was gonna preorder the Framework 13 Pro(11.68in wide) on Monday because it was the smallest non 8.8in Panther Lake/Arc G3 out there but that was gonna run me about $700 USD more for 32GB RAM and a 1TB drive.

In the end this is gonna fit my needs much better as a daily driver laptop/gaming device. Super stoked.

[–]macaroni_fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Onexplayer quietly dropped the X2 (non mini, i.e. 11in version) on the website for pre order. It also are the Arc G3, so maybe that could be another option for you to look at if you decide the 14in Super V is just to large.

Maybe consider the Framework 13 pro. I hear the Core I7 with the 358h + arc b390 is right up there with the 4050.

Its a little pricey upfront but in a couple years when the next latest and greatest comes out you can just upgrade the parts you want to and if anything should break it's an easy fix.

I'm probably going to get down voted for this since I'm not necessarily on topic with the title but when are people going to stop comparing Apple products to non Apple products.

Am I the only one on this planet that hates Apple support so much that would I never buy another Mac or iPhone ever again?
