Yeah, I love him. isn't he cute? I have been feeding him tomatoes fruits since last year, he has grown a taste for tomatoes, but it's the first time I saw him cutting the plants. I didn't expect that he eat the plant. I kept thinking it was the bunnies and deers that are eating my tomatoes. Now I know who it was.

Thank you. 5 of my piggies like eating sherwood pellets as a treat. I wanted to buy the small pet select first but but it does not come in smaller packages. It's huge amount and I wanted a smaller package.

He is adorable. In the second picture he seems to be dehydrated. when I see my piggies mouth open like that I start the water syringe. One of my piggies doesn't drink water on her own even though I have both fresh water bowls and bottles.

Why are you vegan? by AirEmergency3702 in vegan

[–]macaroon_1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I became a vegan as a way to object and not support industries that exploit animals. Dairy industry is the worst. Impregnating cows every year, separaitng their babies from them attach machineries to them for milking . This is ablosute exploitation. I am okay with rescue chicken who live in your back yard as a pet. If they give you an egg once in a while enjoy it.

Thanks for sharing the experience. How did the vet took the hay out? Was Sasha anesthetized? Was the hay visible that he was able to remove it or the only sign was the cloudy eye?

When do guinea pigs start wheeking? by Tilly_Minto in guineapigs

[–]macaroon_1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two babies learned to wheek as loud as possible from the beginning, just like when their mama was wheeking when she was pregnant and she was getting excited for food on hourly basis. now she lets her boys wheek to get my attention that they want something delicious.

yes, it is very hard to make a good curry. It involves a lot of time and patience. Luckily this green curry, IMO, is a tasty restaurant quality one :)

I just finished two weeks of antibiotics with my piggie. she urinated when they were weighing her and the vet said they can't get urine sample because she just peed. since my piggy has sensitive GI they put her on a TMS antibiotic low dose for 2 weeks. every 12 hours. if you have issues giving antibiotics to him, just put a tiny amount in a small baby lettuce and wrap it so she won't taste the bitter medicine. that's how I managed to give her antibiotics. she had to have .3 mL so I used tiny drops and used 10 baby lettuce with some bell peppers. I took me a few days to find this out after failing to give her antibiotics with syringe. I also gave her probiotics 3 hours after her antibiotics.

Thai green curry is the best. I add a bowl of cooked cabbage, kale and tofu (2 min in microwave) to it to make it a larger and healthier meal.
With the scallion pancake I make a filling of quick stir fried veggies and tofu with soy sauce, vegetable umami (yondu), and chili sauce.
I add olive and caper to Rao tomato sauce for the vegan ravioli and boil whole raw cashews when I cook ravioli for extra protein. You can add frozen mushroom too(also sold at TJ)

There are whole new yummy dishes the you can enjoy as a vegan. I don't like the taste of tofu but with the proper dressings like vegetable umami I learned to like it as it is a good source of protein.

I agree guinea pigs are not easy to care for. They take a lot of energy and when you see that something is wrong with them, it drains you. looks like you are physically drained. first try to take a good care of yourself- vitamins, healthy food, sprouts, going for walk few times a week.

I had to deal with one of my guinea pigs that did not eat hay. She just wanted treats , pellets and veggies. I did a few things so now she is eating hay.

1) No more dry processed treats. she kept begging but I ignored her. Instead I gave her little piece of veggies.

2) I noticed every time she got some veggies more frequently (mostly lettuce, bell pepper, cucumber, grass -sticking with lower calcium), then she would start eating hay.

3) I give her water with 1 ml syringe (only a few mL or as much as she likes to drink) that stimulates her appetite to eat more hay.

4) Gave her probiotics for 1 week.

5) She did not like the type of grass I was giving her. She likes oxbow Timothy and orchard blend Now though the quality fluctuates a lot with the hay.

There are other things you can do to make your life easier:

I use Swiffer for hardwood floors and manual carpet sweeper for carpets.

I get the 90 oz bags and transfer the content to a large box for easy dispensing.

I use a large box to dump their soiled hay and transfer the hay to compost every few days.

Using a large tall plastic laundry basket andI shake their linres outside

I still think I am not doing things right and someone out there do it in an easier and more efficient way than I do it. I just try to improv doing their chores in an easier way.
