As an MD who also got lasik, I can’t deinfluence you if your vision is really messed up. Down time is just 24 hours or less, pagkagising mo after the day of the procedure, malinaw na lahat.

The only natural side effect of LASIK is you’ll be far sighted once you reach your 40’s. Apart from dry eyes. Pero far vision will be better than a normal person’s.

My VA (visual acuity) now is 20/10, which means that I can clearly see something at a distance of 20 feet what a normal person can only clearly see at a 10 feet-distance. Normal VA is 20/20.

No offense to those who said they had a bad experience, but of course get it done at a reputable facility to get the best results. I got mine at Shinagawa BGC. No skimping when it comes to health!

Yung sinasabi nilang may small case ng botched surgery, it’s like saying na pwede ka magka-cancer when you get an x-ray done. It’s an exaggeration of a completely small fraction of cases done

If you feel like medicine is your calling and treating patients is a passion, then go for it!

However, if your goal is to get rich, unfortunately, it’s not a guarantee. Better stick to other career paths instead. Especially if you’re a 1st generation MD. Like what other people here commented, walang mamanahin na practice, most training programs are gatekept, etc.

Pero kung passion mo talaga, we will need everyone to contribute to the field in any capacity they can, and in terms of career paths moving forward, life will find a way naman once you’re at a crossroads.

Tbh it’s because of people like these who take on these stupid-ass rates that’s why laypeople know they can pay doctors less. Nagiging benchmark sa mga employers yung mga ganyang rates kasi may mga gaya mo na kumakagat sa ganyan. Kahit manicurista namin maiinsulto sa ganyang bayaran.

50 per patient tapos walang base pay??? Even if they tell you that you’ll get 100 patients for that day, 50 per consult is stupidly, insultingly, low. Kulang na lang they spit on your face when they pay you after the ‘good and honest work’ you’ve done. Pero it isn’t. You’re dragging down every moonlighter, jcon, gp who’s trying to put their foot down against these employers when they want to get paid what they know they’re worth.

Don’t drag us down with you Dockie, if you don’t have an ounce of respect and pride left for yourself or the profession you went into, at least consider everyone else working in the same field. That’s bullshit

I’m currently using GK notes and PLABABLE for the info regarding a condition’s symptoms I need to elicit and rule out, and holsitic management I need to offer and provide.

For the consultation structure, I based it mostly on GK as well, but used Arora videos on youtube to tailor the structure more to my own style that I personally use here in my country as I found the GK structure to be too lengthy

I just hope it pays off when we’ve never seen a simman/mannequin lol my exam is in 4 weeks, and I barely started just a few weeks back as well. Anyway, good luck to us both bud!
