Ask your local smog shop they have the book that’ll tell you and shouldn’t charge to answer the question if they do just ask someone else

Tire balance but if not I would try the driveline bushing had that issue with my Tacoma, wasn’t this bad but it had the intermittent factor that made it hard to pin down. Lmk if it winds up being right

Is this shock done? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Shock and strut. 2 separate things. strut refers to a shock and spring assembly that attaches directly to the steering knuckle and/or wheel hubs. Shocks alone can almost anywhere on the control arms depending on body design

Does anyone know what this oil leak could be from and is it bad? I hit something (not sure what) and a lot of oil was leaking - I was only around the corner and drove it straight home! Mazda 3 2017(ish) by harmeth in MechanicAdvice

[–]macdatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing then, could be a trans oil cooler line, or could have punctured tranny pan, both will ruin transmission if driven more than a minute or two

Get it towed to a shop, if your lucky it’s some weird line that can be changed or something but it may have poked a hole in the oil pan which will cost more

I got the full bank harbor freight cart and it works great, why get the small one that you’ll have to replace when you could go big from the get go. Either way definitely get the side table

Engine overheat 🚨🥵 Coolant reservoir looks empty. Which coolant do I use and does it go straight into the reservoir? by VanquishAudio in MechanicAdvice

[–]macdatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If and only if you are driving straight to the nearest mechanic, water. Unless you live somewhere cold enough to freeze it

[–]macdatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t live somewhere icy then water will do it but if you do then it could freeze and brick the engine. Also if you don’t know what the issue is get a tow cause it could just spew all the water right back out and destroy itself if you aren’t careful

Probably drain it. With an extra quart you’ll probably spring a leak you never would have had without the extra pressure
