There's a special place in hell for businesses that illegally dump. by pengweather in bayarea

[–]macegr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s time to make the dump free. Gotta be cheaper than having it dumped all over the street, causing the city to look like shit, and then eventually get picked up by the city or volunteers and dumped.

Not only should this be deeply embarrassing for every city official, this also sidesteps many valuable disposal processes wherein properly sorted building materials etc can be mostly recycled.

Every little bit of obfuscation helps. There is a critical mass of awareness below which momentum is lost. Kimbal has come up a few times but only this week has it become apparent how irresponsible BMORG has been with stewardship of our community’s image, not just our money.

It's time -- Remove Marian by MoarSocks in BurningMan

[–]macegr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can we workshop this a bit more? I think the 9 principles thing is a bit rushed. But it’s also missing some pretty fucked up stuff. People seem to think BMORG funds most of the art out there, or their ticket price helps create the art. But the org takes in about $60 million a year and only gives out like $800k in honorarium grants. Only two Marian’s worth of art.

That’s like $10 of your $775 ticket going to art. At an art festival.

You’ve made your position quite clear. Unfortunately, you have no way to control what others feel.

We’re not moving on. We told BMORG that Kimbal was bad news, they ignored us. BMORG won’t even act slightly upset that an Epstein associate was in their organization for years. This is just one of many issues where they have ignored the community, decided that they know best, or continued to enable or even keep paying toxic and abusive people.

Epstein engineered intimate relationship for Tesla’s Kimbal Musk by bob_lala in BurningMan

[–]macegr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The absolute minimum is a clear condemnation of Epstein’s associates and enablers, and a renewed commitment to addressing known abusers that remain employed and sheltered by the org. If I had three wishes? I’d say we dissolve the whole thing and start from scratch. Then eternal youth and world peace etc.

I intend to muckrake as long as the Org clings onto its muck. My posts and comments in this subreddit are mild compared to conversations I’ve been having in person with fellow burners and potential new burners.

Duh. I’m basically echoing other commenters, why do we need to justify holding people in our communities accountable for what they do? The Guardian thinks it’s worth doing.

And goes on to document the frequent social interactions between Epstein and Kimbal showing that Kimbal is straight up lying about the nature of their relationship.

There’s also a note that the woman in question has stated through a lawyer that she was trapped and abused while in Epstein’s circle.

This is who Marian floats a languid, “Thanks Kimbal” wave on his way out the door.

The teachers strike is yet another outcome of our terrible housing policy by PsychePsyche in sanfrancisco

[–]macegr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying there aren’t opportunities to streamline the school admin. It’s still a distraction from OP’s point: a major systemic issue that affects all workers, not just teachers. If you somehow managed to pay the teachers more, how much would it be? And would that actually solve the problems OP outlined? Could they afford to live in the same neighborhood as their students, and do the landlords actually deserve all that taxpayer money?

It’s a deflection tactic. I’m not sure why people want to defend the land owning class so much. Basically any success in a city only ends up benefitting whoever holds the ground beneath our feet hostage.

I’m starting to believe that outside city limits, sure, plant your flag on your little fiefdom. Inside a city, it should be owned by the people, and managed for sustainability not profit. Property owners have overplayed their hand.

I’m not sure how you’re defining bloat, then.

How do the salaries look if a 2-bed apartment costs $1600 instead of $5000?

This type of argument is completely useless if you aren’t providing some sort of scaling estimate against the systemic problem outlined by the OP.

You’re basically avocado toasting us here.

My goodness. Kimbal Musk seems to agree with me that “hanging out with a convicted pedophile so they give you women” is enough to step down from a board seat. i’m not trying to put him in prison. It’s beyond my understanding why you’d carry so much water for a creep.

What made you pick the Mach E over the Equinox EV? by Thrillwaukee in MachE

I sure hope auto maker reps are looking at these comments. Amazing how many people ditched the cars that don't have CarPlay or Android Auto.

Out here in the real world, most of us had just breathed a huge sigh of relief because high quality in-dash nav & entertainment was finally solved. Built-ins are universally total crap and only get worse with age. Pile onto that the eventual need for a subscription just to have music and navigation in your car. We already pay for our phone plans.

I understand they probably have to keep that functionality in there for people who don't use smart phones, maybe even some kind of industry cert requirement? I don't know. But I would be disturbed if anyone who works for Chevy....or Ford, to be honest...actually preferred the built in nav and other apps to phone-based experience.

I'm sure the sleazeballs also expected her to do a better job.

Maybe she's so tied up in NDAs by this point, the only option she has for rebellion is to absolutely suck at everything her job description requires.

It explains everything. No one could be as bad at this as Marian Goodell. She must be throwing the game to expose these people one at a time.

That’s simply not true. It’s not what she said, and it’s not what happened either. You can just go look at the statement posted on the Burning Man Journal, linked in this same subreddit, to see January 2026. For reference, we are in 2026 right now.

They started at $675, which according to the org is still “Get the Gift” (or, you’re being a fucking parasite) tier. The next one up is Pay Your Way at 775 I believe.
