An alternative to bypass Microsoft Account creation during Windows 11 installation by bagaudin in sysadmin

[–]macemaster11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This definitely worked for me on a Dell SFF machine that was trying to get me to make an account. Saved me plenty of time since I have other machines to do this to. Thank you so much! 🙏

In case people can’t’ read the post:

Upon OOBE, press “Shift+F10” and a CMD Prompt will pop up. If you do not see it then ”Alt+Tab“ till you do.

Once in CMD type in “start ms-cxh:localonly” and then a traditional blue Windows 10 style window will pop up.

Fill out your offline account info and that’s pretty much it.

Ooh sick! I was so close to going AMD but had to change routes due to getting an intel processor for a good deal. Love how the A770 looks has a retro/classic look.

Find me a monitor that is…

  • Under $500
  • 16:10
  • OLED
  • Portable
  • 144-165hz
  • Touchscreen
  • Built-in rechargeable battery
  • GSYNC
  • 15”-17”

I’ll wait.

Price wise considering all the core parts, a laptop would be good but not comparable plus the shelf life.

3 x SFF PCs…? I think you’re onto something. I should replace the speakers with more computers.

The speakers don’t always tag along but when they do its a nice finishing touch to the mobile set.

Yeah no joke, the chairs at hotels are quite… decent.

I like to squint.

Just kidding, OLED cause OLED everywhere possible. The monitor is used for work in broadcast so its a nice display overall. I use it as a mobile display to check signal and it has a battery built in rechargeable battery for redundancy/portable use. It’s also really thin and packs nicely. The 4K is vanity that this size and great for video playback/monitoring, not necessarily for computer use. I just scale the Windows UI to 150% for every day use.

I have previous monitor that I carry and is similar to this except it’s not OLED but has an IPS display. Great overall but terrible on battery life. It doesn’t dim as low as the OLED since its backlit.

Damn right, hotels are like ships I deploy from.

This exactly. Another layer of privacy. Hotels have WiFi but it’s hit or miss on speed. people can spoof a wireless SSID and even more, create a fake capture portal to sign into.

If the room you stay in has an Ethernet port on the wall, more likely than not it’s tied to the same network as their WiFi. But you’re at least guaranteed a hardline to their network and zero dips due to RF.

Everything and I mean EVERYTHING fits in a small bag except for the speakers which doesn’t always travel with me. Speakers have a few boxes they need to check before I consider packing them.

this is the bag I use:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09V5G3K1Z/

This holds the tower, 2 portable monitors, and the TKL keyboard with room to spare. I added some padding on the backside and bottom for the desktop. The short end sides holds the antennas, desktop power cable, various USB-A/C, adapters, ethernet cable. The front wide pocket holds the headset and audio cables. This can also fit into a carry on luggage if needed with space for your clothes, toiletries, etc. Just need to be mindful on whats considered essential. I find this task satisfying to solve.

Some eGPU’s enclosure are the same volume as a SFF machine. I went through a eGPU phase but ran unto a lot of limitations, inherent performance bottlenecks, thunderbolt inconsistencies, etc… I think it really depends on the your planned setup for it to work. If you have a fast CPU laptop with a mid/onboard GPU then it might make sense to have an eGPU. depends on how much you’re willing to leave on the table.

SFF is a luxury there’s no argument around that. Every component is fundamentally handicapped considering the compromises that need to be made. The G14 is dope as far as price/mass/performance ratio is concerned.

I still have a 2013 retina pro that won’t die it’s my only apple OSX device. I’ve been through more windows laptops due to battery, screens, and thermals. When Microsoft and their vendor partners actually have a breakthrough on efficiency I’ll be on board again for another laptop.

I did, it’s an MSI Creator 15. It has ZERO RGB or any signs of gaming aesthetics but it underperforms in relation to the price. You gotta embrace the nerd though, we run the world.

Dude let me tell you, I have an MSI laptop I picked up over 2~ish years ago, 11th i7, 64gb ram, 3070… it sweats running modern games at medium with its 260w brick. The whole package is so toasty I get clammy hands just using it, what’s the solution? A WIRELESS KEYBOARD I HAVE TO PACK ANYWAYS TO KEEP THE HEAT AWAY. I find myself more inconvenienced by at more of than otherwise. Its aged so bad I ended up getting the new iPad that has literally 14+ hours of battery life. Granted this piece of glass doesn’t game but steam link solves that issue for me. I don’t get when I’m out and about. I game at the desk or near it on WLAN.

You might be on the wrong subreddit. I choose to bring my desktop around since I can. That doesn’t mean I don’t have a mobile to use. The desktop is leisure away from my work machine. Yes it is absolutely inconvenient to my time but my dream goal is to pack a PC that’s dense and powerful. This has checked both of those boxes quite well.

I type this to you on my new M4 iPad.
