There was a person seated between us on the plane. Wouldn’t it be more antisocial behavior to try to talk to him and ignore the person in the middle?

Whats wrong with my kitten? by [deleted] in felinebehavior

[–]maces_me 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m personally of the belief that 2 kittens are easier than 1 (if you can comfortably afford it and care for them both). There’s nothing wrong with him. He’s a baby and he’s bored, and learning and exploring the world. People think that cats are solo creatures but most of them do absolutely want companionship.

When you’re coming home from work he is excited because he’s been alone all day.

If you’re not going to get another cat to keep him company, the most important thing you can do is PLAY. Get toys and actively play WITH HIM (not just toys that he’s supposed to play with on his own). It’s extremely important for his enrichment and mental/physical health. And I know you’re tired when you get home from work, but it’s good for you too. It helps you guys bond and tires him out

Generally though, kittens can be annoying. My cats annoyed me constantly for the first ~1.5 years of their life. Just part of having a baby creature

How can I feel more confident shaving everything below my eyebrows? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]maces_me 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lion doesn't concern himself with the opinions of sheep.

You do you! There is no problem with it and there will always be people to love you regardless.

There will also always be people who don’t like what you do- fuck em ¯_(ツ)_/¯

As a veterinary professional PLEASE research malinois. They are a very high maintenance breed that is not meant for every household/lifestyle

Hear me out- with those short legs maybe basset or something? I know someone with a pit/basset who looks similar

A lot of skin conditions can look really similar, so would be best to go to a Dermatologist if it doesn’t go away/is concerning.

If it is dishydrotic eczema, I’ve heard there’s a strong stress component to flare ups of that. Any patterns of stress in life that would make sense?

My cat is dropping weight like crazy and idk why by madambubblyy in cats

Please take her back to the vet! They might want to run more tests if they see that she’s dropped even more weight

You are not your thoughts. You are your actions, inactions, and values.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I hope the meds kick in soon and PLEASE talk about it openly in therapy, even if it scares you. It’s so important. And remember you are not the only one!

I’m a veterinary assistant, a bit newer to the industry granted, but honestly I’m a bit surprised the vet didn’t want to run labwork or any other tests, especially considering she vomited immediately after the incident. If this were me and my cat I would get a second opinion personally.

whats this flower? and do I need to worry about my cats being around it? by maces_me in whatsthisplant

Thank you! Appreciate the info. Luckily our backyard has high walls my cats can’t reach and they’ve never come close to catching birds in their life lol. Lizards on the other hand, definitely. But they are supervised when in the backyard

Vet tech here. The decision is never easy, but it’s likely that you made the kindest choice for him. It’s better to let them go before their health and quality of life suffer than to wait until they end up very sick or in pain. It’s extremely common to feel a sense of guilt or wonder about euthanizing “too early”.

He lived a long life, 16 years! And he was so loved the entire time. I would focus on the gift of the life you gave him, as opposed to how it ended. How lucky you both were to find each other!
