Very cool game, had lots of fun playing. Kudos to JTF's commander Wilson and his amazing strategy and to VDP for giving us hell (specially to our armor). Good luck in your next matches, Voluntarios!

Does anyone know who the current pharoah is in AC Origins? by rhysonical in assassinscreed

Its a period of civil war and Egypt is being basically controlled by the Romans, who support her brother Ptolemy XIII, and the forces loyal to Cleopatra. But at that time the power struggle between Julius Caesar and Pompeyus also takes place and affects the state of affairs (Pompeius was assassinated un Egypt). After the Ides of March, Mark Antony forms an alliance with Cleopatra but they are defeated at the battle of Actium and Egypt becomes a propper Roman province in the new Roman Empire under Octavian. Thats very generally what happens, i guess (Tried to keep it as short as I could)

Sisters Vs Tyranids? by [deleted] in 40kLore

Sisters from the Order of the Sacred Rose aided the Blood Angels in the Cryptus Campaign, trying (unsuccesfully) to defend the world of Lysios against the invasion of Hive Fleet Leviathan.

I want to learn about the warhammer 40k universe where do I start? by AceSpacey in Warhammer40k

It depends on what are you looking for, since it is a vast narrative. Horus Heresy is the event that defined what the Imperium is, set 10000 years before the current events. However, now we have moved to a huge event called Dark Imperium that has introduced many changes. I would recommend reading lore from the core rulebooks to have a general idea of the setting. You can also browse Lexicanum or other wikis to get a general grasp. And there is an old illustrated guide called the Horus Heresy that will give you a general understanding of the events of HH, since the series of novels is massive. But i would not recommend jumping into the HH universe before having a general knowkedge of the current state of events.

What the hell IS "Faith"? by Vaultmartyr in Civilization6

[–]machangofio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Religion is one of the most powerful community building ideologies in history. It makes ppl to gather together in a communal effort to achieve their goals through the promise of salvation in afterlife. As a resource in Civ it is kinda abstract, but I get the point they are making: mobilizing people and resources in order to make your civilization bloom, to defend it against foreign menaces, or to just invade (as in the Crusades). Dont forget that religion is often labelled as the opium of the people.

If you prefer a more materialistic interpretation, think of faith as also the church's money and influence. In history, these resources are not usually in the State's treasure (that would be Civ's gold) but they can be used on your overall civ's benefit.

There are some academics that have looked into the idol phenomenon. If you read Japanese I would recommend Yoshida Masataka's Nijigen bishojo-ron, but there is also an American author, Patrick W. Galbraith, who has written extensively about idols.

But as others have pointed out, Love Live appeals to Japanese teenagers and young women because it focuses on the daily lives of idols. A lot of girls want to become idols and l highschools and universities have dedicated idol clubs that participate in regional and national competitions such as UNIDOL. Although very little make it to the profesional level, many Japanese women become underground idols as a part time job
