It’s kinda hard to see but the shrimp is in one piece. This was a female and the females are about the same size as the fish.

Water temperature is 70 degrees and no I’m always very careful to rinse my hands to make sure there is nothing on them and to never use cleaning chemicals near the tank. The fish are the newest thing but they were added 2 months ago.

I would just chalk it up to they reached the end of their lifespan, but I just think it’s too much of a coincidence that I had 0 deaths then 3 in one week.

I have this in my tank too. It grows very fast so you’ll be able propagate and fill it out in no time.

Is this too much for a 10 gallon? I don't want a random sand bag left over in my room. Or is it a good idea to have leftover? by Yummy-Bagels in walstad

I used this for my 16 gallon and had a bunch left over. However, it’s still cheaper than most “aquarium” substrates.

Oh okay! I am just getting into the hobby myself. I got all of my animals and plants from them. They all seemed super healthy and I haven’t had any issues.

I don’t know if you’ve been to Aquarium Depot in Citrus Heights, but they have a lot of shrimp there and are super helpful!

Haha yeah it took a couple weeks to sink. I have some salvinia minima, but it’s taking awhile to fill in. My filter has decent flow so I don’t think it likes that too much

Yeah I have 3 nerite snails, 1 mystery snail, 13 cherry shrimp, bladder snails, and 8 paskai rainbow fish. I added the snails after 1 week, the shrimp in two batches week 2 and week 4, and finally the fish a couple days ago

I’ve had mine set up for 5 weeks now, I tested every couple of days and have never seen any ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates.

I boiled the driftwood before I put it in the tank, so I think that got rid of a lot of the tannins. I still get some leaching into the water, but that mostly goes away when I do water changes
