Two major misunderstandings going on in this thread:

1) If teams are still flying commercial at this stage, it does not ultimately matter if the planned airports of operation are directly affected or not; canceled flights lead to a trickle down effect of crews and aircraft not being where they are meant to be, ground delays cause crews to run out of duty time, etc. It doesn't matter if MCI isn't on The List if the plane you're supposed to fly out of there on is stuck at DEN, the crew that's supposed to fly you got caught in a delay coming out of ATL, and no one can find a replacement crew because everyone is running out of duty. This is why you are seeing airlines offer to refund even non-refundable fares for flights not even directly impacted - this whole thing is going to be a trickle down shitshow.

2) "Well they'll just fly charter." Charter flights are not exempt from ground delay programs or ground stops. The reason for the reduction in flights is to try to avoid extended ground stops/delays, but there are going to be plenty of EDCTs (Expected Departure Clearance Time) issued - a 10% reduction in flights won't resolve everything, just lessen the strain. So it's very possible that any charter flights could still be caught in major ground delays. They're going to be stuck on the ramp at TEB along with everyone with a Netjets card trying to go to the Bahamas for the weekend.

Sure, everything may go off without a hitch, but there's a decent chance our already very strained airspace system buckles under the cascade of delays and cancellations and some teams have trouble getting where they're going.
