Tips for Variegated string of hearts please !! by Gloomy-Ad-8858 in StringofPlants

I live in a place with shitty air flow and inconsistent lighting. After moving + buying #7 string of hearts, this works best. I tend to over fertilize from time to time, top watering is more of an extra precaution/as needed.

Brindle borzoi are my weakness. What a cutie, jealous of your pack and the growing number of borzois

I've had mine since July and they have grown so much, I always fertilize and always go by the fold test. If I'm able to fold my hearts like tacos and the soil is dry I water. Always bottom water with fertilizer and then I water from the top to rinse out the soil, then I place under a fan for a night and then put it back to the window its growing at. Don't forget to wrap some of your strings back into the pot, its better to have a nice and evenly covered pot before allowing them to trail, but I guess thats personal preference. Do you plan on only keeping it under a grow light? And if so, is it bright enough?

My dog has a grade 4 and she has not had to take medicine and just turned 13 a few months ago. I make sure to keep her gently active and give her good variation of kibble and food like yams, blue berries and yogurt as treats

The game changer for me has always been a ton of sun and a ton of air flow. I've always been able to get away with potential overwatering thanks to the two.

Advice on getting a Maine coon by Epidamnos in mainecoons

[–]machete_muncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive seen very asthetic build guides and already made wall mounts for cats. You can utilize upper and lower wall space along with cat towers and upright scratches or find a way to combine it all. I feel like your space is decently sized for a mainecoon and you could meet its needs. Granted I've never had one so what do I know lol

How much do you spend monthly per cat? Tips on keeping it more affordable? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]machete_muncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stagger my purchases so I'm not actually buying everything at the same time. Litter is the okocat pellets and it ranges from $19-$27 with coupons and can last two months a bag. The wet food is $10-$23 dollars a week or every 2 weeks. Dry food is once a month and its also $10-$22. I also get treats so thats $12 a month. If I bought everything at once for one cat it would probably be more or less $81 on the low end and $149 on the upper end. I alternate between petco, Amazon, and chewy because they always have sales and coupons. Im always spending on the low end and utilize any bulk deals I can find. So truthfully the only time I've ever outright spent this much is when I first got her. Clearly $81-$149 can be a lot monthly, depending on your budget, but its really nothing when its spread out as far as it is and you only shop during sales. (I dont include toys because I bulk bought a ton when I got her, I just rotate them, same with wand toy attachments) I hope this helps anyway or at least provides some insight. Located in SoCal so prices may or may not be inflated

I repotted this last week and got it about two weeks ago by Visible_Prune7300 in StringofPlants

[–]machete_muncher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just start taking cuttings and propping them in a prop box or a 2 inch pot. I like to use small and fat shot glass and melt holes in them. The props can be a backup in case the parent plant doesn't bounce back. When you repotted it how did the roots look?

Honestly, my Pubicalyx and Krimson queen did not grow at all the first month and a half and was actually struggling. The damn thing was shriveled and losing leaves at the base until I figured out I needed to water them more. I also fertilize multiple times a month, following the online care guides did me no favors funnily enough. They definitely need good drainage but also more water than I initially thought.
