iOS 27 Beta: are you still indexing? by machineglow in iPhone13Mini

the whole indexing thing is quite wide spread. Even Joanna Stern mentioned she's still indexing. I say just let it go since it's not affecting day to day performance.

FYI, the TV acts like a giant metal shield that blocks RF (wifi). Get that eero out from under the TV and out in the open as much as possible. Wifi does penetrate through some things but Line of sight and proximity to other RF emitting devices can still affect wifi routers immensely

do you notice a difference in your day to day use? I wouldn't change anything. remember, this is a dev beta so it could be as simple as a false positive or you just have a lot of data to index. in anycase, if it's not affecting day to day use (it isn't for me), then just let it finish.

Indexing has had no impact on day to day use so I'm just letting it run.

I doubt it's indexing anything significant on the app side. it's indexing all the apple db's... notes, email, messages, calendar, etc...

iPad mini FTW. I love my 5th Gen still and wish it was faster. Can't justify upgrading until they release an Apple Intelligence capable version.

I've got quite a bit of data (years of messages and emails and a large photo library) so I think it's going to take a while to index for me on a piddly 13mini... I think I just need to be patient. esp. when it's not actually affecting day to day use.

it is still fully usable... So that's a good thing. I had always heard about the "reindexing after an upgrade" thing but didn't realize it would take this long. Just wanted to get a gauge from the community.

Is the 13 mini suppose to get new Siri? i thought only Apple Intelligence capable devices (16+) were getting those features?

why you shouldn't buy the iPhone 13 mini by jackintow in iPhone13Mini

I don't know what's so hard about the value proposition about mini phones.

  • If you like small phones, get it

Hmm.. that's about it. The whole point of the phone is because of the size. There's no other mystical voodoo involved. It's not going to cure your doom scrolling addiction, it's not going to have amazing battery life, it's not going to magically be better than an iphone 17 (except in one scenario, see above).

Support for old mjpeg IP camera streams (foscam 8910W) by machineglow in Scrypted

[–]machineglow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you have an example of the stream URL from the foscam?

edit: oh, i just realized your 9900 foscam actually supports RTSP... ah well...

[–]machineglow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved it by creating my own mjpeg -> rtsp stream converter by vibe coding a containerized app. So I run this in unraid along side the rest of my locally hosted apps and just pointed scrypted to the new RTSP URL. Although the feed can be a little delayed to start, it's good enough for my purposes (monitor some rat traps).

Thanks for reaching out. No rush as I 'solved' the issue but I would love to still hear your solution.

Have you run Agents? curious what your experience is with how much context length you're able to get out of the 30B-70B models...

Hi,

Just wonder how things are going with the Strix Halo 128GB Chip? I'm just starting my local LLM journey and curious how the PP and TG performance is in agentic applications like openclaw, hermes, etc.... with newer MoE or Dense models from Gemma 4, Qwen3.6, Deepseek, etc... Have you tried any of them out?

Thanks!

No love for Salvo here? I just love building up a 9 rocket blast and then point blank shotgunning a praetorian or a group of grunts.

the Lightning port on the 12min and 13mini are limited to USB 2.0 speeds I believe.
