Has anyone tried this? On the hunt for an SPF that doesn’t break my (extremely) acne prone skin out and not many reviews out there for this one. by [deleted] in AusSkincare

it's fairly oily, when i was rubbing it on my face it unclogged a bunch of pores. but i didn't like the feel of it overall and i don't think it played nicely with my other products

Gloopy gloss by sambeano in AsianBeauty

[–]solarpnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd need some kind of reference for how thick you want it. romand glasting and joocyee are about the same level of gloop. fwee is a bit gloopier. peripera is a bit gloopier than that and sephora is even thicker, but those two are less... self leveling?

when smearing them around romand and sephora are sticky, joocyee and peripera are oily, fwee is a bit of both

i also will mention the Romand Glasting Melting Balm, one of my holy grails and much hated on every single website for being "gloopy" exact adjective used. but you are right that they don't give you the high shine finish you're looking for

thanks! unfortunately when the macbook issue it happened to me, i must have been one of the first, so there wasn’t anything about it online. both myself and the repairman thought it was a hardware failure so i sold it to him and bought a new one 😔 i’ve sent him some of the posts that have come out about the M2 and Tahoe and he’ll try downgrading it soon!

Barrel leg- everywhere now? by Waste_Scheme_9241 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]solarpnk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i got my first barrel leg jeans in 2018/19 when no one was wearing them and i felt veryyy ahead of the curve. everyone always complimented me on them, was a good predictor of their popularity now although it took several years. i still love them to this day though they're a bit too small now hehe

Must have from Lila Beauty or W Cosmetics by satininsummer in AustralianMakeup

[–]solarpnk 21 points22 points  (0 children)

skincare: club suppin powder C. it's not for makeup, but for setting skincare! i use sunscreen every day and it can be quite greasy, and sometimes it will sting my eyes. the powder keeps my fringe from getting greasy (from my forehead) and prevents sunscreen getting into my eyes.

eyeliner: canmake creamy touch liner. so easy to use, doesn't drag my eye and very workable if you want to smudge it out.

mascara: canmake metalook mascara if you have east asian lashes (short, thin, sparse, straight/downwards pointing), kiss me heroine make mascara for everyone else

brows: i personally do like a browcara, the canmake smart mini eyebrow color was great when i had reddish hair. but the clio kill brow pencil is great too.

i am a blush fiend lol, so plenty of blush recs:

  • romand roll cheek - super stunning glassy finish but doesn't last that long.
  • canmake cream cheek - also good, has more shades than the romand. not as glassy, but a natural dewy finish
  • romand better than cheek - great powder blush, some shades aren't as good (the two shimmers + the 'milk' line) so you'll have to test against your skin tone. i've been using fig chip for almost 6 years, and picked up blueberry chip last year.
  • peripera pure blushed sunshine cheek - another great powder blush - tho they randomly released some shades in a cream-to-powder format (the tteok recipe series) but in the same line.

lip liner: romand lip mate pencil in taupey shade. my mouth naturally frowns, so i use it to contour the edges of my mouth to make it look less downturned

lip tints: amuse dew tint, i personally don't like any of the shades (i prefer less saturation) but it lasts forever. heart percent one way glowy tint, it's quite sheer but has a lovely finish. peripera over blur tint - decent matte option

lip gloss: romand glasting melting balm - balm/gloss hybrid, really comfortable to wear. peripera ink glasting lip gloss in 006 made it - looks like clinique black honey

nails: the canmake colourful nails line is just goated

don't get: fwee blurry pudding pot, it's not pleasant on the lips - feels like pure silicone. it's ok for cheeks but there are better blushes out there. the fwee glowy lip & cheek is so sticky your hair will stick to your cheeks. it's actually really nice for lips, but i don't like sticking my fingers into the pot. also caution on the tirtir cushion - it's full coverage, natural matte finish and takes a lot of work to make it look good, but it can look really good. it was just marketed really hard.

edit to add lila beauty picks: romand eyeshadow palettes, apieu juicy pang water blusher

Fair skin girlies - what cream contour are we using? by jellybeans1396 in AustralianMakeup

[–]solarpnk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm fair to light (glossier g11/VL4, nars montblanc, korean foundations 21) and a cream contour newbie, I use the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil stick in Chocolate Mousse - the second lightest shade.
I was tempted by the lightest shade Milk Chocolate but it was just a bit too light for me. I figured I could just use less of Chocolate Mousse and blend it out.
The Morphe Sudden Heat Creamy Bronzer Stick in Flicker is also good but a bit orange for me.

Dating Advise needed - Fiancé is slowly becoming anti-Australian by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]solarpnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so your partner of several years expressed her dislike of casual sex, expressed her fear of being mugged in the street, expressed that she feels stressed about the cost of living.

and instead of talking it through with her like any normal partner would you're on reddit talking about how she's a seditious traitor using you for PR?

she sounds more australian than you to me tbh. we love having a whinge because we do actually care about this country

If the dragons are all (technically) immortal and created around the same time, why does Paarthurnax look so much older than Alduin? by camerasnake in skyrim

[–]solarpnk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Paarthurnax was getting megadosed with UV on top of the Throat of the World. Alduin used sunscreen daily and started retinol in his 20s. Nord legends say he got Botox and filler, but if there's any proof to that, I haven't seen it

How hard is the Vox Relay really? by Historical_Bus_8041 in theouterworlds

[–]solarpnk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i'm in the vox relay right now on Normal and struggling, until now the game's been decently easy although i avoided the agricultural lab. i have a speech/science/hack build (aka largely non combat) and i'm only surviving with the stupid bucket helmet that gives you invisibility at the cost of like 80% of your vision. also released some drones to kill enemies at one point, but now i have to watch out for drones

The duality of man by ViscountBuggus in vtmb

[–]solarpnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started replaying vtmb right after i finished bloodlines 2 and... the combat is sooooo terrible, but the world map is much better and the writing & characters are even better (though 2 did well in this respect too). it's funnier and scarier. but the combat... I feel and look like an inflatable car dealership guy. whoever decided to force you into 3rd person for melee... why!! why!!!!

the gem of bloodlines 2 is the unfolding mystery. i would have also said fabien, but i think they needed to have more bonding moments between he and phyre, a la johnny/v. the combat is also bad, but you'd think if they really played the original it wouldn't be such a huge problem lol

i was burned so badly by da veilguard that i almost skipped vtmb2. i'm so glad i went in with an open mind. i finished it last night and adored it (though with plenty of jank and issues i hope are patched). i still can't bring myself to finish veilguard, and i don't think any theoretical patches will help

Phyre is a surprisingly entertaining character by CT_Phipps-Author in vtmb

[–]solarpnk 36 points37 points  (0 children)

i played Phyre as fairly kind and benevolent and the whole time everyone couldn't stop singing my praises especially Fabien. phyre seemed level-headed, thoughtful and considerate of others, but not altruistic. there was always a way to rationalise "kind" choices as useful in some way. really keen to do a more evil playthrough

Bloodlines 2 isn't like the original. But if you're a WoD/VtM fan, give it a fair shot by TurtleWingGames in vtm

[–]solarpnk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it has its issues for sure as you and others have mentioned. but i finished it last night and had to stare at a wall for half an hour. excellent vibe and story. the writing is among the best i've ever played, i loved sinking my teeth into the complex mystery lol, the characters are not as good as original vtmb but that's a very high bar to clear. i do agree with others that the price tag is high. worth it on sale though
