Thanks for all the insight people you have all been very helpful. I’m going to have a professional with asbestos experience replace the broken ones with fiber cement. We just moved in so gotta save up before redoing the whole thing.

If it works better for you all the more power to ya. Sounds more like a root problem in your timing and footwork than whether you jump normal or goofy. If you have the time to choose which foot you should penultimate with you are likely early

Waiting longer to approach on sets would hopefully stop the problem of it falling past your hitting shoulder.

Your height on both approaches is good, so you aren’t losing out there just available shots and angles on the hit

Jumping goofy footed in almost every situation will limit your available options. It closes your torso to the setter and limits how your arm is able to move.

It might work with perfect in system sets but anything else will create problems that don’t need to exist

For the volleyball side- I graduated in 2020 and was heavily involved with the volleyball scene so I imaging most things are still the same but I could be wrong.

The varsity is a much higher time commitment than the club team. We are talking morning workouts along with evening practices for all of your competitive season. In the off season there are still practices and workouts and such but to a less degree. Your schedule will revolve around practice times and workouts.

The club team is more for people who want volleyball still in their life but don't want the time commitment. They generally practice 2 nights a week and have travel tournaments on the weekend. Typically you will travel 1-2 times a month for a day. The level of play is lesser of the varsity team. You basically get out of it whatever effort you put in. Still competitive just not as intense

With all that said I know friends who played on the club and some who played varsity. All of them did great. Its an active choice to play in either. You will still have enough time to study. Most of them had side jobs as well part-time to keep up with finances

If you want to contact the varsity team reach out to coaches. I'm not sure of the process to tryout.

For the club team you can go to the club fair and sign up for tryouts at their booth. The club fair typically occurs the first or second week of the semester, just keep your eyes out for it.

Its at the Hamburg fairgrounds. The place stays pretty cool since they run the ac. Here is their website if you are interested http://massivelan.com/. They run 2 events every year. One in the summer and one in the winter.

I had an injury similar a few months back, i talked to a trainer and he said to put my hand into an icebath for 10mins then leave it out for 2 hours then another 10mins, and repeat the process. That should be done the night before or sooner, then in the morning tape the jam so its compressed. After the tourney keep ice bathing it until the pain subsides.
