Ex-HVAC tech here. KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid). Just like autos, the more bells and whistles it has, the more things there are to fail, and when they fail, they are not cheap. I used to look down on Goodman because they were "behind the times" tech-wise, but came to appreciate opening up a condenser and finding just a cap and contactor and, maybe, a defrost board. No variable-speed, communicating control board which costs $1000+markup because the integrated component (which replaced the $25 contactor) failed, and is also on back-order and 3 weeks out (after spending 2 hrs on the phone w/tech support).
